Thursday Thirteen #36

bondtt-copy.jpg

Well everyone, the day will finally be here tomorrow! The Bond That Ties Us is set for release bright and early tomorrow morning from Ellora’s Cave. Am I nervous…damn straight! But here are thirteen things I’ve done to try and keep my mind off of R-Day.

1. Work. Yes, no calling in sick for this trainer. It’s actually a good week for me because I have my customer service class to train. No time to think about the fact my soul will be bared to the world tomorrow.

2. Watch season three of Doctor Who / season one of Torchwood. And reading every damn bit of trivia I can find on the show. Other than Star Trek, Doctor Who is the one sci-fi show I’ve been watching since I was a kid. Has a special place in my heart. Plus I love David Tennent!

3. Write. Okay, so this week hasn’t been so good on the writing front. I did much better last week. Sven will be upset. But I’ve still managed 5000 or so words, so not too bad.

4. Talk. When I’m nervous I talk…a lot. Even more than normal. It’s really quite scary.

5. Haunting the blog world. I’ve been reading so many blogs this week it’s crazy. People I haven’t met before, checking out new places. Every time I start to panic about Bonds, I simply look for a new blog.

6. Promo. Or at least try to promo. It’s all so new to me still.

7. Go to the Ellora’s Cave Coming Soon Page. Sad as this is, I’ve been watching my cover move up the list. The art work is finally up too! Which is good considering it’s releasing TOMORROW!

8. YouTube. I’ve been spending more time than usual on YouTube. I’ve found some very strange things. That will have to be another TT list. :D

9. Make marks on my calendar. I actually have three locations where I’ve marked the day. I have a white board at work with the countdown number in the corner. I have it circled on my calendar in my cube, and at home. You’d think I know the date already. OCD anyone??

10. Read. I’ve actually have been on a bit of a vampire kick, which is odd because I don’t normally read vampire books. I finished December Quinn’s Blood Will Tell (which totally rocked – go buy it!), Rises the Night by Colleen Gleason (which also totally rocked!) and I’ve just started J.R. Ward’s Dark Lover. Loving Wraith so far. :D

11. Exercising! I’ve been saying for a while I needed to get back to exercising, and I’ve actually started. Nothing major yet, but I’m going to set up my routine this weekend and start.

12. Trying not to whine. This is hard, because of #4. When I talk a lot it can come dangerously close to whining. My husband usually give me “the look” and I stop. :)

13. Coming up with a TT list. You’d think this would be easy! I’ve toyed with a few ideas over the past week but couldn’t think of a thing to say. So I did what I normally do – just sat down and wrote. :)

Happy TT everyone!

Thursday Thirteen #35

bondtt-copy.jpg

I thought for this Thursday Thirteen, I’d give you thirteen facts about The Bond That Ties Us, release next week!

1. The Bond That Ties Us is set on Eurus colony, found many hundred light years from Earth. The colonists had to be cryogenetically frozen to make the trip.

2. Haylie Bond is the new security chief. No one knows what happened to her predecessor and his files have gone missing.

3. Haylie doesn’t act on impulse because she feels she’d be too much like her mother, who’d abandoned Haylie and her father for another man.

4. Ambassador Kamran represents the Briel, a race of people who have helped the humans establish a colony and presence in this sector of space.

5. Kamran is the youngest and most celebrated ambassador his people has ever had. He takes his job very seriously, and has spent the last year trying to prevent the Ecada from attacking the human/Briel colony.

6. Ownership of Eurus is currently under dispute. A brutal race known as the Ecada want the planet for their own. Ideally with the humans for a food source.

7. The Briel are governed by a matriarch. There are fewer women than men on their planet, and finding a mate is of great importance. Only single Briel men, or widowed Briel females have positions off world.

8. Sara Fergus is Haylie’s best friend and the colony’s new doctor. Sara is a bit clumsy, but is a fantastic doctor. She tries to get Haylie to relax.

9. Taber is the Briel head of security. He’s completely loyal to Kamran and lives strictly by the Briel rules of conduct.

10. Off world, the Briel are governed by a subset of the Briel government known as the Elder Council. This is comprised of widowed Briel females.

11. As soon as Haylie arrives on the planet, she is overcome with a wave of desire. She’s not sure what is wrong or who it’s directed toward until she sees Kamran.

12. Once Haylie and Kamran realize there is a connection between them, they decied to hide it from others. If the council finds out about them, they will be forced to leave the colony and return to Briel.

12. The Bond That Ties Us goes on sale from Ellora’s Cave on July 20th!

Thursday Thirteen #33

thursdaybanner22.gif

This weekend I’m going away camping with my family. We will be heading to Prince Edward Island for four days of fun and excitement. I hope to have some pictures to share when I get back. Before I go though, I have a pile of things I need to get done. :)

For this week’s  list, I thought I’d post some fun things you can do on PEI. I got this off their touism site. Enjoy!

1. Anne of Green Gables The Musical , at Confederation Center of the Arts. See one of the best musicals ever put on stage, the famous musical Anne of Green Gables. It is a must see family classic.

2. Avonlea Village , Avonlea Village, in Cavendish. This is a good spot to visit if you are familiar with  ”Anne of Green Gables” or any of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s books. This village takes you back to Lucy Maud Montgomery’s homeland where she grew up.

3. Charlottetown Mall. S hopping on PEI can save you money. Since there is no provincial tax on most types of clothing and footwear, everyone benefits from the 10% savings on those commodities.

4. Woodleigh Replicas & Gardens , in Kensington. Explore 30 replicas of the most spectacular castles and cathedrals of the British Isles, set among rolling hills and gardens

5. Ripleys Believe it or Not! , in Cavendish. There are only two of these museums in Canada!

6. Bike the Confederation Tail. What better than a great vacation the length of PEI that can be as expensive or inexpensive as you wish. Bike from one tip of Prince Edward Island to the other.

7. Outside Expeditions, North Rustico. Get outside and enjoy some sea kayaking or go take a ride in a canoe.

8. Pottery Hunt, There’s something about sea air that inspires artisans and PEI has no shortage of quality potters

9. Greenwich, Prince Edward Island National Park Parks Canada protects a rare system of parabolic sand dunes and sites of early Aboriginal and Acadian occupation dating back 10,000 years.

10. College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada, Summerside 100% Authentic-Heartfelt Celtic! A summer long Celtic Festival set amongst an institution, that inspires “excellence in Celtic performing arts through quality educational programming.”

11. North Cape, Home to a host of attractions. View the longest natural rock reef, walk the Black Marsh Nature Trail, visit the Atlantic Wind Test Site and see the North Cape Wind farm.

12. Sliver Bush Farms, Also known as the Anne of Green Gables Museum at Park Corner, this farm house is owned and lived in by George Campbell and his sister who are great-grandchildren of L.M.

13. Green Gables Original Site, The farm house preserved on the property was the home of Montgomery’s relatives and is apparently the inspiration for Green Gables of novel fame. The surrounding forest is the haunted woods that inspired Anne’s imagination.

Thirteen Random Thoughts
1. I really can’t wait for 300 to come out on DVD. I saw it on an IMAX screen and was completely blown away. I want to see it again! Now please. :D

2. I’ve just bought Colleen Gleason’s Rises The Night. I’m not going to get to read it until tomorrow night or until I do everything I need to do. I know once I start it I won’t stop. ;)

3. I need a TV show to watch this summer. There are so many out there to get caught up on, but I haven’t had any desire to watch anything the last little while. House and Dead Zone are on the top of my list though.

4. I’ve noticed I’m hungrier now that I’m not drinking tea/coffee anymore. Usually I want to eat bad things. I think I need to go on a diet.

5. The weather has been murder on my head this week. I’m not as bad as some people I know, but the pressure has given me some killer headaches. The weather seems to have let up a bit tonight and the sun is out.

6. I need to mow the lawn. My husband is going to do some of it tomorrow, but I really should help. I like to mow the lawn but he has more time in the day than I do.

7. My parents are coming to visit this weekend! I’m really excited to see them even if it’s only for a few days. We might go see Spiderman 3 in the IMAX. Mom hasn’t gone to one yet and Dad really wants to take her. I just want popcorn…

8. We need to pay someone to come fill up our pool. With the weather starting to get nice, I want to get in and go swimming!

9. I read an article online today about what parents need to do to keep their kids safe around pools and prevent drowning. It scared the crap out of me. I felt the urge to bubble wrap my kids.

10. There is cat hair everywhere in my house. She’s shedding with all the nice warm weather. I need to do a major cleaning before my mom comes. She’s allergic and will be really filled up if I don’t.

11. I hate cleaning. But I love my mom.

12. 42 Days…

13. I love TT! I’m going to go bounce around sites now meeting new people. :D

Thursday Thirteen #29

I love you all! I’m tired and silly tonight so here are thirteen random jokes that people have sent me over the years (yes I keep them). I hope at least some of these will make you giggle. I tried to pick non-offensive ones, but you never know…

Thirteen Jokes!
1. Two friends, a blonde and a redhead, are walking down the street and pass a flower shop where the redhead saw her boyfriend buying flowers. Red sighed and said, “Oh, crap, my boyfriend is buying me flowers again.”The blonde looked quizzically at her and said, “You don’t like getting flowers from your boyfriend?”

The redhead said, “I love getting flowers, but he always has expectations after giving me flowers, and I just don’t feel like spending the next three days on my back with my legs in the air.”

The blonde says, “Don’t you have a vase?”

2. Jake was dying. His wife sat at the bedside. He looked up and said weakly: “I have something I must confess.”

“There’s no need to, ” his wife replied.

“No,” he insisted, “I want to die in peace. I slept with your sister, your best friend, her best friend, and your mother!”

“I know,” she replied, “now just rest and let the poison work.”

3. Why are hemorrhoids called hemorrhoids” instead of “assteroids”?

4. On a recent transatlantic flight, a plane passes through a severe storm. The turbulence is awful, and things go from bad to worse when one wing is struck by lightning. One lady in particular loses it. Screaming, she stands up in the front of the plane, “If I am to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there ANYONE on this plane who can make me feel like a WOMAN?”

For a moment there is silence. Everyone has forgotten their own peril. They all stared, riveted, at the desperate woman in the front of the plane. Then an Italian man stands up in the rear of the plane. He is gorgeous: tall, well built, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes.He starts to walk slowly up the aisle, unbuttoning his shirt… one button at a time…No one moves…He removes his shirt… Muscles ripple across his chest…She gasps.

He whispers, “Iron this, and get me something to eat.”

5. After a few years of married life, a man finds that he is unable to perform. He goes to his doctor, and his doctor tries a few things but nothing works. Finally the doctor says to him, “This is all in your mind” and refers him to a psychiatrist.

After a few visits to the psychiatrist, the shrink confesses, “I am at a loss as to how you could possibly be cured.” And he refers the man to a Cajun witch doctor.

The witch doctor says, “I can cure this.” He throws some powder on a flame and there is a flash with billowing blue smoke. The witch doctor says, “This is powerful healing, but you can only use it once a year! All you have to do is say ’123′ and it shall rise for as long as you wish!”

The guy then asks the witch doctor, “What happens when it’s over?”
The witch doctor says, “All you or your partner has to say is ’1234′ and it will go down. But be warned: after that, it will not work again for another year!”

The guy goes home, and that night he is so excited and eager to surprise his wife.
He can’t wait to go to bed. They get in bed and he says, “123,” and just like magic, he gets an erection.

His wife turns over and says, “What did you say ’123′ for?”

6. Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?

7. A visiting minister offered the opening prayer: “Dear Lord,” he began with arms extended and a rapturous look on his upturned face, “without you we are but dust…”

He would have continued, but at that silent, awkward moment when he paused for a breath, one very obedient young girl (who was listening carefully) leaned over to her mother and asked quite audibly in her shrill little voice “Mommy, WHAT is butt dust?”

Church was pretty much over at that point.

8. Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things.

9. A man and a woman, who had never met before and who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping compartment on a transcontinental train. Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a compartment, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly… he in the upper bunk and she in the lower.

At 1:00 AM, the man leaned over and gently woke the woman saying, “Ma’am, I’m sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I’m awfully cold. I have a better idea,” she replied. “Just for tonight, let’s pretend that we’re married”.

“Wow! That’s a great idea!” he exclaimed. “Good,” she replied. “Get your own f***** blanket.” After a moment of silence, he farted.

10. Why is it called tourist season if we can’t shoot at them?

11. As I was packing for my business trip, my 3-year old daughter was having a wonderful time playing on the bed. At one point, she said….”Daddy look at this,” and she stuck out two of her fingers. Trying to keep her entertained, I reached out and stuck her tiny fingers in my mouth and said, “Daddy”s gonna eat your fingers!” pretending to eat them before I rushed out of the room again. When I returned, my daughter was standing on the bed staring at her fingers with a devastated look on her face. I said, “What’s wrong, honey?”

She replied, “What happened to my booger?”

12. What was the best thing before sliced bread?

13. Best Email Out of Office Auto Reply: I will be out of the office for the next 2 weeks for medical reasons. When I return, please refer to me as ‘ Margaret ‘ instead of ‘Rick’.

Thursday Thirteen #27

So I asked my husband what I should do this week for my Thursday Thirteen list. He suggested I list thirteen ways to love your lover. He does my book titles too. :D He’s mine – back off!

Now I’m not talking about sex here. It’s sometimes nice to show your significant other how much you love them in unconventional ways. It helps to keep the spark alive in any relationship. So here we go…

Thirteen Ways To Love Your Lover
1. Love notes in their lunch bag. There’s something very sweet about opening your lunch and finding a little love note tucked between your sandwich and yogurt. It’s guaranteed to put a smile on their face, and can be just the pick me up you need through the work week.

2. Give flowers on a normal day. We’re so used to getting and giving flowers on special occasions, I think they’ve lost a bit of the beauty. I love it when my husband buys me some carnations from the store, just because. :)

3. Random daily hugs. You can never get or give too many hugs. It makes everything seem better.

4. Give them your undivided attention. I don’t know about you, but when someone is listening to me…really listening to me, I feel amazing. I know how much they like/love me with that simple act.

5. Hold Hands. Again, something simple that says more than any words can.

6. Give each other sexy looks. I love being a tease. I love to drive my husband nuts with little teasing looks and…gestures…okay enough on that. (Not sex!)

7. Flirt with each other. Again, I’m a terrible flirt. But it shows that the spark is still there in your relationship. Plus flirting with your spouse is pretty much guaranteed to get you laid! (Not supposed to be about sex – bad me!)

8. Snuggle. (Not sex!) This can be on the couch, watching TV, in bed (not sex!), in the car (not sex!). Anywhere!

9. Give them surprises. I love the little things my husband does for me. Buying me chocolates when he knows I’m desperate. Getting me a movie that he knows I’ve been wanting to see. Cooking me a special meal just because. It makes your lover feel special.

10. Make out! (Not sex!) But there is something to be said for kissing. It’s wonderfully erotic without having sex. It also brings the passion out in your relationship. So pucker up!

11. Watch a movie together. It doesn’t have to be a romantic movie either. As long as you’re watching it together. And by together I mean sitting side by side, in touching range. Not each of you in different chairs on opposite sides of the room.

12. Have a picnic indoors. We do this occasionally when the kids are in bed. We buy wine, get cheese and crackers, some fruit, sit on the floor and talk. (Not sex!)

13. Body massage. This is a great way to relax…okay and this one does lead to sex. But this is your lover your with so go for it!
