Oooh look!

Yeah, I’m a geek.

So I’m at a conference. And today I learned about how to make book trailers. After a grand total of 25 minutes, I made two trailers that I’m not embarrassed to put on the Internet. Well, maybe a little.

But only 25 minutes people!!

Here is one I did up for Commanding Acquisitions.

And here is one I did for my Eternal Bond series.

So what do you think? Don’t quit my day job? :D

The Bond That Ties Us – Now In Print

It’s out! It’s out!!!

My very first print book is available today from Ellora’s Cave. The Bond That Ties Us introduces us to the Eurus colony, and the ongoing war between the Briel and Ecada. When Haylie and Kamran meet, it’s a  bit more than love at first sight. The physical bond between them is so powerful, neither are able to resist them.

When I first wrote this story, I had no idea the impact it would have on me as a person, or the fact it would launch my writing career. I started it with the intent of writing a book that I would enjoy reading. I’m so thankful other people have also enjoyed it.

You can buy it directly from Ellora’s Cave Here!

The Bond That Ties Us – In Print Monday

OMG!! I just got the email that The Bond That Ties Us will be available in print MONDAY!!! If you could see the look of glee on my face right now, you’d be laughing your heads off.

This is my first print book, and the fact that it is the very first book I’ve had published makes it extra special for me.

That’s right everyone, if you are planning to come to the Romanctic Times Booklover’s Convention in April, I will be there signing The Bond That Ties Us. As you know, this was my first novel, and to know that I’ll have a print copy of it soon, gives me warm and fuzzies like you wouldn’t believe.

What a way to start my Friday. :D

I got a lovely surprise yesterday when Julia featured The Bond That Ties Us on her Thursday Thirteen list! She actually made me blush. HUGS!!!

It still catches me off guard sometime when people talk to me about my books. Like I’m pretending to be something I’m not and sooner or later someone is going to find out about it. LOL! Until that day comes, I’m going to keep writing. :D

Last night I was able to get some more written on my urban paranormal. I’m not doing too badly for word count, but not as much as I’d like. I think tonight might call for drastic measures (i.e. a bottle of wine and a write in with Amy) so that I can push through this setup chapter I’m working on. I need to get my characters in place for the final action scene…

This weekend, I think I might do a bit of self pampering. I got a manicure/pedicure gift certificate for Christmas and have yet to use it. So I’m going to call and see if I can book myself an appointment for tomorrow. Rest, relax…and then write like a fool!

Other than that, I plan on staying pretty close to home. I was hoping to get out in my yard to dig around the garden a bit. This will be my first summer in this house and I can’t wait to see what plants I have to play with. The yard is small, but that’s about all I can handle with my schedule these days. If it’s nice, maybe I’ll setup the BBQ.

Yummy….

What plans do you have??

WOOHOO!!

What a way for me to end 2007! The Bond That Ties Us just got a five angel review from Fallen Angel Reviews! Thanks to Dana for taking the time to read it. I’m thrilled that you enjoyed it.

Here’s a snip of the review:

Christine d’Abo’s twist with the title The Bond That Ties Us was totally apropos, this story hooked me and I couldn’t wait to unravel it to the very end. This story is hot, the sex is explicit and plenty. Grab an icy drink, a fan and get started on The Bond That Ties Us it will take you out of this world.

You can read the full review here!

On top of that Amy got a Fantastic review for Masque of Desire! Check it out here!

2007 Goal Recap

I find it hard to believe that 2007 is done tonight. This has been an amazing year for me personally and professionally. A lot of changes, many of them huge, have kept me on my toes. I thought before I post my goals for 2008 tomorrow, I’d take a look at what I’d hoped to accomplish in 2007. This was from a Thursday Thirteen post last December and I’m amazed at how well I did.

1. To get published. The funny thing with this goal is that it was the first one I completd. About a month after putting this on my site, I sold The Bond That Ties Us to Ellora’s Cave. :D

2. To write consistently every day for one hour. I somehow managed to be pretty consisten with this one. Many days I managed to write longer than an hour, but I kept myself to this. I think its made a big difference with not only my output, but with my quality.

3. To read five writing craft books. Oh I fell short on this one. I think I only managed to read one and a half. I really need to get better with this.

4. To read two new releases a month. Yeah, I didn’t managed this, though I read quite a few new releases. I might have averaged two a month, but I tended to read them in spurts. I’m going to continue with this though.

5. To finish the second draft of All Bottled Up. Done!! This is now sitting with a few editors, so cross your fingers.

6. To finish the second draft of Summer Theatre (novella). This actually turned out to be Chasing Phoenix, which was releasd on December 14th from EC!

7. To plot and finish the follow up manuscript to All Bottled Up. I didn’t do this one because I hadn’t sold All Bottled Up. I do have it plotted, but I’m going to wait to write it. Hopefully, I’ll be working on it soon.

8. To finish the first draft of Perfect Match. This is done and sitting with my editor right now. Cross your fingers that Bree likes it. :D

9. If Ellora’s Cave doesn’t buy The Bond that Ties Us, to send out partials to at least three publishing houses. Wasn’t a need to do this because EC bought it!!

10. To query at least three agents this year. I actually queried five…and got four rejections and am currently waiting on the fifth. I’m not so worried about this and I’m glad I went through the process. The agent thing will happen when it’s meant to be.

11. To send All Bottled Up to at least three publishers. Did this. Have gotten two rejections and I’m waiting on the third and forth ones. I hope I’ll hear something in January on this.

12. To send Summer Theatre to at least one publisher. Sent it to EC and they bought it. :D

13. To blog at least five times a week.  Oh yeah I did this. And I joined up with my Sexy sisters over at Six Degrees of Sexy too. Love those girls!

So surprisingly, I didn’t do too badly in 2007. In addition to the goals I set out, I sold an  additional book, Sweet and Spicy Spells, which has been doing awesome! I’m hoping 2008 will be as good for me. :D
How did you make out with your goals??

NaNo – Day 17

Happy Saturday everyone. I didn’t get much done yesterday on the writing front. I was busy at an all day meeting at my EDJ and it pretty much sucked what little life I had in me by the time I got home. That said, I’m working hard at it today.

I’ve managed 1000 words so far this afternoon, and plan on doing a lot more. I’m trying to give myself little breaks as I go to keep my creative levels up.

I also wanted to share my good news! Little Sunshine from Joyfully Reviewed gave The Bond That Ties Us, this fantastic review. Thanks so much!!

I wanted to remind everyone that I, along with the other Six Degree of Sexy sisters will be chatting over at The Deliciously Naughties writers group tomorrow from 12-6 pm EST. You can sign up for the group here! Please stop by and say hello. :D

Haylie Bond hopes to be the best security chief Eurus colony has ever had.  While she’s interested in having a relationship, she doesn’t want anything to get in the way of her dream job.  Yet the moment she enters the colony, she knows she will have difficulties with her new assignment, starting with the unrelenting sexual desire she feels for Kamran, the alien Briel ambassador who haunts her every thought and dream.  When she realizes that Kamran has the exact same feelings for her and that she may be his predestined mate, she discovers that Briel law mandates they move from the colony and immediately start a family.  Neither Kamran nor Haylie are ready to leave their life on the colony behind and so they fight their growing desire.  When the colony is threatened by a mysterious enemy, will their desire blossom into an all-consuming love?

The Bond That Ties Us is a fascinating futuristic tale that I greatly enjoyed.  The underlying currents surrounding the threat to the colony keeps tension infused in the story.  The plot flows smoothly with plenty of action to keep both the sex and the relationship fresh and intriguing.  I found the alien customs and mores of the Briel people to be compelling and I would have loved to see their unusual conventions explored in more depth.  Kamran is the typical ambassador; he thinks with his head and is a balanced character.  Because of this, I loved seeing when he lost control with Haylie, allowing his biology and instincts to take over.  In many ways, Haylie is quite like Kamran; she has a goal in mind for her life, yet she listens to her desires, making her occasionally impulsive. She has an intuitive personality.  The sex, while spicy and imbued with passion, doesn’t underrate from the growing love story between Kamran and Haylie.  Sometimes too much sex can detract from my enjoyment but I didn’t feel that happened with The Bond That Ties Us. It had just enough sex to keep me absorbed in the plot.  While Kamran and Haylie have sex rather quickly in the timeline of the story, it was not out of place or awkward.  In fact, the sex helped make their growing bond more believable.  Those readers who are looking for in-depth plot and enticing romance with a futuristic tone will find The Bond That Ties Us an appealing read.
