Things are Moving!

So maybe I need to post more blogs becasue yesterday, I was seriously motivated. I managed to get my read through done for my submission. Cut quite a bit, tightened some more and even got it off to my fantastic critique partners. I got through a contest entry (mostly) before I fell asleep at my keyboard.A very productive night.

I got stuff done! *does a snoopy dance

Today, I managed to get about a 1000 words written on my WIP before heading out to work. It was early morning, so I may have to tweak when I get to read it over tonight. Still, forward motion is positive. :D I also have a plan for another story that is half done.Been turning that puppy over in my mind all day.

I think what I need to do is make myself a bit of a project plan. What I want to work on and when I hope to have it finished by. I’m a task list kind of girl, so having things to check off makes me happy. I’ll give that a think.

The good news is that the writing is finally happening again. The editing is going well. I should have a release date for The Bond That Saves Us soon. You can pre-order All Bottled Up on both Amazon and Chapters websites (I giggled when I saw that last one), and I’ll have at least one more print book out by October.

I am a happy author today. :D

First Round Edits…Done!

Hello my friends! Yes, I have managed to resurface after hiding out for over a week now. I have been very busy digging through The Bond That Saves Us cleaning it up and making it sparkle for you. I think you will really like the end result. Things have been sent off to my fabulous editor, and now I sit (not so patiently) waiting for her comments. I promise to try and be on my blog a bit more now that my edits are well on their way to being finish. I find I need to immerse myself when I’m in that frame of mind, blocking everything else out.

Last night I sat down and jumped back in to my WIP. I really missed my girl Laurel and the fun I’m about to throw her into. I’m working on the third chapter, which for me is always an important one. By the end of it, I usually throw my main character a curve and see where she wants to take it. The biggest difference with this book, is that it’s not a romance. It’s fun exploring a character’s personal journey and not feeling the pressure to have her jump into bed with someone. It’s also a lot more challenging in several different ways–but I’m up for it!

This weekend I have my writer’s meeting, and I have to say I’m really looking forward to it. I really miss the connection with other writers and live for seeing these fantastic people once a month.

My other big goal for the weekend is to plant something in my front yard. My amazing husband took up all the grass in the space between the road and the sidewalk, covered it with the gardening mesh and red rocks. No more mowing the weeds! So to finish the look off, I need to stick some plants in and then walk away. I’m thinking hosta…we’ll have to see.

Oh! I have a new guilty pleasure…Smallville! Hubby and I are halfway through season one, and so far I like it. I’ve heard it gets pretty awesome in later seasons, so I think it will be our summer show. I never thought I’d be cheering for Lex Luthor, but there you have it. :D

Still alive

I can’t believe it has been a weeks since I’ve blogged. Shows just how quickly things can get away from you. This past week I’ve been working on edits and fighting a chest infection. This is the second bad one I’ve had this year and I’m, quite frankly, tired of being sick. I’ll take all cyber prayers that I’ll finally get over this.

On the edit front, it is going well. I’m about halfway through The Bond That Saves Us, cleaning up the little things and making those love scenes nice and steamy for everyone. I can’t wait to share with you the end product.

This weekend will be mostly edits…and sleep. If the sun ever decides to come out again, I might squeeze in some gardening. I need to finish my backyard flower beds!

I hope everyone out there is well.

Slipped Away…busy, busy, busy

Hello my friends! Yes, I’m still alive. Yes, I’m still writing/editing. I’ve been working hard on my revisions to The Bond That Saves Us this week, and so far I’m very happy with the results. Right now, it’s looking like this will be the longest book in the Eternal Bond series. Mind you, Sean has earned a nice long redemption story, so it is only fair. :D

I’ll be spending a large portion of my weekend cleaning things up and getting them finished off for my editor. Once I’m done, I’m going to finish up a quick story I’ll be submitting to Ellora’s Cave free reads program. With any luck it will be accepted. After that, it’s back to my WIP which I’m really missing.

I’m already missing all my TV shows now that they’re done. I do have Torchwood series three and the next Doctor Who movie to look forward to, but there’s been no firm release date set yet. I’m hoping July for Torchwood is accurate. *sigh*

I hope everyone is well and things are chugging along nicely for you. How are things??

Monday Morning Ramblings

Every time I sit down in front of my computer to start a new project, I get really excited. Currently, I’m wrapping up edits on my recent WIP and am getting ready to start a new one. It’s currently all I can think about. I love getting to know these new characters, see what they are like and what they are going to do with the situations I throw at them. I enjoy world building, and am currently exploring what this new world will be like.

Funny enough, this one really isn’t a romance. Lots of sexual tension to be sure, but no HEA for the heroine as  such. This is a new road for me as a writer, which is another reason I’m really excited about this one.

I also have one foot back with my other projects. They never really leave me until the final line edits are done and the publisher has taken everything off my hands. I’ll be starting edits for The Bond That Saves Us very soon, which I really have mixed feelings about. It’s the end of the series…my very first series. When I started all this a few years ago, I never thought The Bond That Ties Us would expand to this amazing world. Now, I can’t believe it is over.

My final edits for Heaven’s Sight, a new paranormal series have been painful. This one is still uncontracted, but it’s been my problem child for a while. Now though, I think I’ve really learned who these characters are, and what was their real story. The world around them has changed, but all for the better. As I finish up the last ten pages of edits for this book, I’m really happy with how things have arranged themselves. But I need a small break from the world. If I want to do book two justice, I need some space. Hence, the new WIP.

Writing is exciting, frustrating, painful and amazing all at once. I’m very lucky to be able to do this.

I hope everyone has a great Monday.

New Sale – New Print Book

*does a snoopy dance*

I’ve been sitting on this announcement for a little bit, but I’m now able to share. For those of you who have been asking, Sean’s story is soon on its way! I’m thrilled to announce that Ellora’s Cave has bought book four in my Eternal Bond series, The Bond That Saves Us.

And here to tease you is a little blurb…

For years, Sean Donaldson blamed himself for the Ecada attack on the Eurus colony, pushing everyone away. When he’s injured after a security breach, he realizes that he has nothing and no one important left in his life.

Captain Amy Bryson is trying to draw as little attention to herself and her ship as possible. All she wants is to participate in the Catallian race and bring home the prize money. In order to protect her ship and crew from attacks, Amy enlists the help of Sean as both bodyguard and co-pilot.

With a drug lord intent on fixing the race for his own purposes, Amy and Sean fight against outside forces as they try to resist the pull of Amy’s sexual pheromones. They must learn to keep their passion in check, or run the risk of ending up dead.

In addition, I’ve learned that Wizard’s Thief will be a part of the Amethyst Attraction print anthology! It will be coming out this spring. Once I have a confirmed print date, I’ll let everyone know.

Somedays I hate technology

For those of you who are regular readers of my blog, I’m sure you noticed the “glitch” this weekend of my site being down. I’m the first to admit, I’m not the most informed person when it comes to all things techie. Give me something about wireless technology, I’m your girl…websites…not so much.

I paid to have my domain name renewed over a month ago. I was being proactive (no laughing Amy), and thought it was all taken care of. Apparently not. *sigh* Needless to say, I’m back up and running, and shouldn’t have any further issues for a while.

This weekend (when I wasn’t freaking out about my site) I managed to finish The Bond That Saves Us! Yes, Sean’s story is done and with my wonderful critique partners right now. That means it will be off to my editor next week and with any luck bought soon. I’ll keep you all posted.

My next struggle, is to figure out what story to work on next. I have two that I want to get cleaned up and sent out to a few places. On top of that, I got a new idea the other day for a completely different type of story. I think I may work on that one just to see what comes of it.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Editing Cave…very dark

There is a quote out there (and I can’t for the life of me remember who said it), that goes something like, “There is no such thing as a good writer, only a good re-writer”.  I am a firm believer in this quote for a number of reasons, the main one being that my first drafts tend to suck.

Well…maybe not suck, but are most definitely lacking. I’ve spent the last few nights going through and cleaning up my manuscript for The Bond That Saves Us. I have a way to go yet, but it’s starting to come together. It’s funny to see the types of phrases that I rely on as I write, the repetitive words, and some outright “OMG what was I thinking” scenes. I usually laugh, then spend twenty minutes staring at the screen trying to think of a way to fix it. Slow going, but the end result is worth it.

This time as I edit, I’m finding myself a bit sad. This is the last book in the Eternal Bonds series. I love all of these characters so much, that I’m really sad to see them go. No, I can’t foresee there being any other books in this universe. Mostly because I’m working on another series at the moment, and I want to get back into their world. I also want to make sure that I am doing justice to Sean’s story. The poor guy has had a rough time of things, and I want to make sure he has his happily ever after.

So, back into the editing cave I go. I hope to have this done within the week and off to my editor soon. With any luck, you will all be reading Sean’s story in 2009. :D

Turning a corner

Its funny how you can be going along in one direction and then, all of a sudden, something changes. This morning when I woke up, I felt fantastic. I’m still a bit sleepy due to lack of coffee, but I feel so relaxed. I’m not sure if that is a result of the detox, or because I’ve managed to get some good sleep this week, but I’m not complaining.

I’ve also been writing up a storm! This is such a wonderful feeling for me, seeing as I’d been suffering from writers block for the past several months. The Bond That Saves Us is just about done. .I have less than one chapter to go in my first draft, and then it goes into clean-up mode and off to my critique partners. I’m very excited about this one, but am sad to see the end of the series.

Never fear though, I have another series started an I’m bouncing to get to this one. Book one is finished, and book two is started. I hope to sell this one soon, and will keep you all posted. :D

This weekend should be busy. I plan on cleaning my house and doing some things that I’ve been putting off for a while. My youngest daughter will be at Brownie camp, so that means my oldest becomes my helper. There is also a big Superbowl party this weekend. My team didn’t make it, but I think it will be entertaining none the less.

Anyone else have a party planned?
