Super-secret-ninja-training – Take Two

Last week I was sick. A head cold, nothing too serious, but enough to keep me from doing my Power 90X workout. I found week one challenging enough when I was clear-headed, I didn’t want to risk doing a face plant because I couldn’t breathe.

I’m feeling better now and got back on the horse!  Boy did that horse kick hard…

Day one is rough due to the sheer number of push-ups and chin-ups. This is the third time I did that one (it was the only workout I managed last week), and I think I’m starting to see results. I’d take a picture of my back and shoulders for you to see…but that just seems weird…even for me.

Day two is the plyometrics workout. The first time I couldn’t get through the whole routine. This time I managed it!!! (shhhh yes there were lots of breaks and I didn’t do as much as the video, but Tony says that’s fine) It is, hands down, the hardest cardio workout I have ever done. Tonight will be my shoulder and arm workout with crazy abs thrown in at the end. If I’m not on Twitter later, you’ll know it did me in.

Result - So far the ninja masters are pleased with my progress. If I keep things up, they have said I might be allowed to be the towel girl soon!

More next week!

Super-secret-ninja-training…ouch

The path to becoming a super-secret-ninja is not an easy one. I have been engaged in the fine art of having my butt kicked by an exercise DVD for a bit over a week now and I am seeing results.

It hurts.

No, those aren’t the results. I’ve lost two pounds in the first week of Power 90X. It was hard going with some of the exercises and I know I have to improve my form in a lot of areas. I still can’t do chin-ups for the life of me. I’ve been forced to use the exercise band around the chin-up bar to simulate the motion until I build up enough strength.I feel wimpy, but I know it will get better.

Last night would have been day nine for me, but I had to take it off. I’ve had a bad head cold for the past three days and it would have been the polymeric routine. That thing kicked my butt last week when I was healthy, so I couldn’t imagine doing it ill. I’ll give it a go tonight as I can finally breathe today.

I am noticing a difference in my muscles already. I’m sure most of it is in my head, but that is the first place I need to make a difference, if you know what I mean.

Favourite lesson from ninja training so far – do your best and forget the rest.

I think I’ll take that as a life lesson.

Super Secret Ninja Training

Yes, you’ve heard it here first. I’ve decided to under go super-secret-ninja training…otherwise known as Power 90 X.

Eight years ago I bought Power 90 off an infomercial when I was staying home with both my daughters on maternity leave. I was not happy with myself at that point and was determined to lose weight. I stuck with Power 90 and managed to get rid of 35lbs over the course of the next year and a half. Beach Body then released  Power 90X. I was psyched to do it too! We ended up moving and I went back to work full time. I never did get the program.

About a year and a half ago, I decided I wanted to get in better shape again. I pulled out the old credit card and finally ordered P90X. I was so excited to try it…and then didn’t. I kept putting it off due to work stuff and it sat in the box.

Then I got sick.

Well, I’m getting back on the exercise horse. I did Power 90 again to get myself back up to a healthy state after the blood clots (Yes the are mostly gone and I’ve gotten the all clear from my doctor). Now I’m ready to startP90X!

Which will otherwise be known as Christine’s super-secret-ninja-training. That means you folks will now have to listen to my weekly updates and keep me all honest.

I’m on day three now and all I can say is…ouch.
