I have to say I love getting “stuff” made up for my books. There’s really nothing like it. In preparation for Romanticon in September, I jumped on the romance trading card bandwagon. I wanted to get a few made up for the Bounty series and these are the result. I’m super thrilled with how they turned out. I’ll be handing these out at Romanticon and I hope to see everyone there.

With all the excitement getting ready for Christmas (including a much anticipated visit by my parents), I was excited to find not one, not three, but FIVE reviews sitting in my Inbox this week! Yeah, it’s enough to make me giddy (or that could be the chocolate overload!).
When writing a sequel, it’s always hard to find the balance between not wanting to bore readers of the first book, but giving enough information to new readers in the second. Considering how much I love the characters in my pirate series, I was really happy to see that readers are enjoying them.
Lea over at BlackRaven’s Reviews gave No Remedy five ravens and said,
No Remedy is a truly outstanding story. With great characters, a complicated and intriguing plot, settings that tie into the storyline in a meaningful manner that advances the plot, and a timeframe that has a quite literal deadline ticking away in the back of your mind as you read, this is not only an enjoyable, but memorable book.
Christine d’Abo gifts the reader with a daring combination of sci-fi space adventure, sexy and soulful ménage, and pirating with a conscience topped off with a bit of professional gunslinger and she makes it work, and work well.
Thank you, Lea!! I was also stunned to learn that No Remedy won book of the week over at BlackRaven’s Reviews! Thank you to everyone who voted. You can read the full review here.
AlexJouJou at Manic Readers gave No Remedy four stars and said,
I very much enjoyed how the dynamic between the three primary characters developed and how it all worked together for their ménage. Permanent ménage can be difficult to write as it is more than just a sex thing and here we see several layers developed and expanded so that you believe a happily ever after for three is the outcome. I’m going to seek out more books by Ms. D’Abo as I am quite impressed!
Thank you, Alex! You can read the full review here.
Not one but three reviews came in for Commanding Acquisitions this week. Being book two is always hard. Lots of expectations to live up to. After the wonderful start with Marilu Mann’s Needing Harte, I’m thrilled to say people are still loving the 1-800-DOM-help series.
The always fantastic Tina at Two Lips Reviews, gave Commanding four lips!
Commanding Acquisitions by Christine D’ Abo is a BDSM story that teaches the real meaning of BDSM – trust. Both Simon and Gavin have trust issues. 1-800-Dom-Help has put them on track to finding out why they have the trust issues but can they take a chance and make the most of the opportunity?…The emotional connection between the lead characters and their hotter-than-sin sex had me hooked on Commanding Acquisitions. Now I have to check out the other books in the 1-800- Dom-Help series. Bring them on!
Lea at BlackRaven’s Reviews gave it four ravens.
Commanding Acquisitions is one of those great stories where the strong come to understand their weaknesses, the weak come to find and accept their strengths and eventually everything sorts out to an HEA ending. At just under 100 pages, this story is easily read and greatly enjoyed in one or two sittings.
And last, but certainly not least, AlexJouJou at Manic Readers gave it four stars.
Commanding Acquisitionsis a tender love story at heart—even with BDSM elements thrown in it is the connection between Simon and Gavin that steals the show. Gavin is coming to grips with a past that has left him scarred and Simon is trying to let go enough to be what Gavin needs. The way that Simon anticipates Gavin’s desires is at the core of what power exchange is all about—that level of trust in the other person to give you what you need is not hard to give but, once given with a good Dom like Simon, the pleasure is all the better.
Thank you to all the reviewers who have helped end my 2010 on a high note. And thank you to all the readers who continue to enjoy my stories.

Sunday is supposed to be a day for reflection. As I sit here on my bed, cup of coffee in hand, I’m trying to get my head around a lot of news I’ve received recently. Thankfully, most of it is good! I thought I’d share with you some of the things coming up in the Christineland.
In Print
I found out on Friday that not one, or two, but three of my Ellora’s Cave books will be coming out in print in 2011! For those of you collecting the paperbacks, both The Bond That Consumes Us and The Bond That Saves Us will be hitting the shelves. I’m also thrilled to have learned that Primal Elements will also be coming out in print! I’ll keep you posted on any other updates.
New Sales
I have a very exciting new sale that I am desperate to announce, but I can’t quite yet. I just received the contract and will be sending it in shortly (must give it a good read through first). Let’s just say I’m VERY excited with this one.
EDIT: Hell, I just read the contract and signed, so I’m going to announce it anyway! I’m thrilled to say that my short story, Bruised Ego, will be in the November 2011 Berkley anthology, Agony and Ecstacy. To say I’m still in shock is an understatement. I have to thank J.K Coi for encouraging (making) me write this story right before the deadline. Even better? Her story also got in!!!
Reviews
Thank you to everyone who has bought and read No Remedy! I have received a ton of emails on this book and many people are also going back to read No Quarter. I had this review from Carla at RomFan Reviews pop up in my Google Alerts. They gave No Remedy a five hunk rating! Thanks to them and please check out their other reviews.
I know I’ve said it before, but to everyone who has taken the time to either place a review on Goodreads, the Ellora’s Cave site, a blog or even sent me an email – THANK YOU! Your comments mean so much to me.
Coming Soon
I have two releases coming out in the next few weeks! Commanding Acquisitions is my first novella in the 1-800-DOM-help series from Ellora’s Cave. Writing this book was like a gift from my (smutty) muse. Simon and Gavin came to me complete (with a bow around their necks) and the story setup really flowed. I am really excited it will be out on November 10th and I hope to have the cover to share with you shortly.
In addition, I have a short story coming out as part of the EC Merry Kinkmas line. My story Firm Touch will be out on December 6th and has to deal with….
*drum roll*
M/M Fisting.
*and waits for the audience to breath again*
I know what you’re thinking, but it is a very thinking/smutty book. According to my beta readers, it’s pretty hot too LOL! I’ll have to wait to see what you all think about it.
In Progress
With all this going on, I’m not slowing down. I am currently working on No Master, which is book three in my space pirate series. This one is dealing with Korbin, the Admiral of the Black and Zain Strand, his second in command. I’m about a third of the way through I am hoping to have it finished by the end of December.
I’ll be working on a different book for NaNoWriMo. I’m still working out all the details, but the book will be three interconnected novellas. Should be a lot of fun.
I also have plans to do a second book for the 1-800-DOM-help series. More on that once I get it done.
Well, that’s me. As always, I’ll keep people posted of updates as they happen. I wish everyone a fantastic week!
Every author holds his/her breath when a new book comes out. Once our baby is out there for public consumption, there is always the fear that people won’t like it. So when those first few reviews come in, it really means a lot.
Yesterday, I was floored to receive not one, but two super reviews. The wonderful Teela at Romance Writers Reviews gave both No Quarter and No Remedy five start reviews.
This was the first time I have read Christine D’Abo and she has definitely captured my attention with her writing technique, with her funny, witty and complex characters. I fell in love with the characters and how they lived their lives and came together. I recommend this to any who love great characters and a great plot come together and make an explosive book that you just can’t put down. P.s. I especially love the plot twist.
This sequel to No Quarter continues to show off Christine D’Abo’s wonderful writing skills bringing three people together in a time of desperate need for all of them. Even if they don’t know it. Yet. Just like No Quarter I could not put No Remedy down. I was taken in and it just would not release until the end…..nope still hasn’t released me. I really hope Christine writes more in this series. I guarantee you will not regret buying this book.
Thank you so much, Teela for the awesome review and putting a huge smile on my face.
You can buy both e-books at Ellora’s Cave.
Woot!! I was traveling for my day job yesterday, so I’m a day late with the announcement.
I’m thrilled to let everyone know that No Remedy is now available from Ellora’s Cave! The sequel to No Quarter, it followed Mace in her quest to find a cure to the poison killing her friend and mentor Faolan. If you don’t remember, Faolan is the pirate captain from No Quarter.
You can buy No Remedy Here!
Blurb:
Mace has spent months trying to find a cure for the poison killing her mentor. Her only hope is Alec, a brilliant scientist hiding on a backwater planet. Months of research is thrown into chaos when Alec’s old lover Byron shows up, attempting to claim a bounty that’s been placed on Alec’s head.
With the clock counting down, the trio attempts to solve the poison riddle as they fight their growing attraction and dodge bounty hunters. Byron is unwilling to let Alec avoid their past relationship. Alec is torn between desire for his lovers and guilt about his past. Mace must somehow find a way to bring them together.
Bounty hunter, pirate and scientist—a recipe for passion or disaster.
Excerpt:
Most men and women of his experience weren’t comfortable with Byron’s dominant nature. Alec had thrived under the attention. Mace had a look to her—the way she held her body, the tilt to her head and the way her gaze seemed intent on bouncing between Alec’s writhing form and Byron’s strip show. I wonder.
“He wants you too.” He let the artificial gravity do its job and allowed his pants fall to the floor with a thud. “I believe you’d be useful.”
Mace snorted and braced her hands on her hips. “And what would you know about something like that?”
Despite her cocky outward appearance, Byron could tell she was intrigued. Now completely naked, he stood directly in front of her. With his cock already hard and bobbing close to his belly, Byron knew exactly what he looked like. Mace didn’t blush, nor did she look directly at his erection or into his eyes.
Interesting. “I know more than a few things about usefulness. Alec likes to be useful. Don’t you?”
The lewd groan was all the answer he needed. Mace looked over at the bed. She bit her bottom lip and her fingers dug into her hips. Byron moved half a step closer, so his breath would tickle the side of her face.
“See, I like to help people be useful. Before he turned tail and ran, Alec enjoyed me telling him what to do. And I have a feeling you might appreciate someone else taking the lead in your life for a change. Help you work out all those problems piling up before your eyes and resting on your shoulders. I can help you, Mace. If you let me.”
Another groan from Alec, and Byron knew he couldn’t waste any more time trying to convince the stunning woman to join them. His boy needed him now.
Byron moved to kneel on the side of the mattress, giving him enough room to pull the hem of Alec’s shirt over his head.
“Let’s get this shit off you. I promise I’ll make you feel better.”
“I don’t deserve your help.” Alec sobbed, pressing his cheek against the sheet and bucking his hips into the air. “It burns, Bry.”
“I know it does.”
“I need…no. Let me suffer.”
Byron couldn’t help running his hand across Alec’s naked chest, teasing each of his nipples as he went. “Don’t ask me to do that. You know I looked after you whenever you had a problem?”
“N-n-n-no.”
“Sorry, not listening. Pants next.”
“Let me help.” Mace moved to Alec’s feet and started to pull off his boots.
“Change your mind?” Byron fumbled over Alec’s belt, fighting against his overeager lover. “I’m not going to have time to coddle you if we do this. Alec is my priority.”
“I want to help him.” She reached out and ran her hand down along his bare arm. “I just…tell me what to do.”
The knot of apprehension he’d felt was chased away by the rush of anticipation. Byron waited until she dropped Alec’s second boot to the floor before pressing a hand to his chest.
“Good girl. Now strip.”
I was on a real roll for a while with my writing. The last few days I haven’t done very much. Not because I don’t have any ideas, I just seen to run out of hours in the day.
The good news is that I have everything worked out in my head for the third book in my space pirate series. The Admiral is shaping up nicely and I’m having fun writing a darker character. I’ve decided once I’ve finished this one, I’m going to take a turn at writing a paranormal erotic. I have a few ideas kicking around, so we’ll have to see if anything materializes.
I’m also still a bit in shock that No Remedy will be releasing in three weeks. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I wrote The End on the first draft. I have at least one more coming out after that, though I don’t have a release date yet for Commanding Acquisitions. I’m also still waiting to hear if my Kinkmas story for EC has been accepted or not, so keep your fingers crossed on that one!
Not much of a Wednesday writing update, but there you have it. Today I’ll leave you with a picture of Sam and Dean from Supernatural! God I can’t wait for September 23rd to come…
Once again, the cover gods (or in this case goddess) have been kind to me! I am thrilled to present to you the cover for No Remedy as created by the amazing and talented Syneca!
Holy cow, it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to post on the blog. It’s been a crazy summer for me on a number of fronts.
My day job has seen me go off to Germany for a week. It was my first time in the country, but I can tell you it won’t be my last! I had an amazing time. The people were friendly and the weather was the hottest it had been all summer. I nearly died LOL!
I got to visit the cathedral in Aachen – we just don’t have places like this in Canada. The beauty of the church can’t be captured in this picture.
I was also able to see (from the outside because I had to catch a train) the cathedral in Koln. I would have killed for an hour to go exploring here.
I even got to stand on the highest point of the Netherlands! The Vaalserberg (“Mount Vaals”) is a hill 322.7 metres (1059 ft) in height.
It’s also where Germany, Netherlands and Belgium meet.
I have officially finished the sequel to No Quarter. Not only that, my wonderful, charming editor at Ellora’s Cave has already bought it! Letter of Marque will now officially be known as No Remedy! Contracts have been sent off and edits will start soon.
This is Mace’s story and I love how her character has grown from book one. Book three is in the planning stage, and I’ll get to work on that in the fall.
While I was flying, I wasn’t able to sleep on the plane. This was a blessing and a curse, as it gave me lots of time to write. I was able to get a new novella started, which I finished yesterday. This will be part of a new multi-author series from Ellora’s Cave. I don’t want to give too much away at this point (we will have blogs and fun things to come), but my novella is done and ready to go off to my editor. Fingers crossed she likes it.
What’s on the burner for me now? Well, I have a submission ready to go off to Samhain in the next week. This is the beginning of a new paranormal romance series, and I’m crossing all appendages my new editor will like/want it. Any extra good luck anyone wants to send my way would be awesome. I’m also working on a quickie for EC’s Merry Kinkmas theme. I’ll be getting this one out the door in a week or two.
I’ll also be attending EC’s Romanticon in October. Not only will I be there for the fun and book signing, but I’m going to be presenting two workshops – one on GMC and the other on characterization. Hopefully, there will be more than just me in the room.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer so far. I’m still active on Twitter if you want to keep up with my daily musings. I will check back in for August, and then get back to a more frequent blogging schedule come fall.
