Romance Trading Cards

I have to say I love getting “stuff” made up for my books. There’s really nothing like it. In preparation for Romanticon in September, I jumped on the romance trading card bandwagon. I wanted to get a few made up for the Bounty series and these are the result. I’m super thrilled with how they turned out. I’ll be handing these out at Romanticon and I hope to see everyone there.

State of the Bedroom…err Union

Sunday is supposed to be a day for reflection. As I sit here on my bed, cup of coffee in hand, I’m trying to get my head around a lot of news I’ve received recently. Thankfully, most of it is good! I thought I’d share with you some of the things coming up in the Christineland.

In Print

I found out on Friday that not one, or two, but three of my Ellora’s Cave books will be coming out in print in 2011! For those of you collecting the paperbacks, both The Bond That Consumes Us and The Bond That Saves Us will be hitting the shelves. I’m also thrilled to have learned that Primal Elements will also be coming out in print! I’ll keep you posted on any other updates.

New Sales

I have a very exciting new sale that I am desperate to announce, but I can’t quite yet. I just received the contract and will be sending it in shortly (must give it a good read through first). Let’s just say I’m VERY excited with this one.

EDIT: Hell, I just read the contract and signed, so I’m going to announce it anyway! I’m thrilled to say that my short story, Bruised Ego, will be in the November 2011 Berkley anthology, Agony and Ecstacy. To say I’m still in shock is an understatement. I have to thank J.K Coi for encouraging (making) me write this story right before the deadline. Even better? Her story also got in!!!

Reviews

Thank you to everyone who has bought and read No Remedy! I have received a ton of emails on this book and many people are also going back to read No Quarter. I had this review from Carla at RomFan Reviews pop up in my Google Alerts. They gave No Remedy a five hunk rating! Thanks to them and please check out their other reviews.

I know I’ve said it before, but to everyone who has taken the time to either place a review on Goodreads, the Ellora’s Cave site, a blog or even sent me an email – THANK YOU! Your comments mean so much to me.

Coming Soon

I have two releases coming out in the next few weeks! Commanding Acquisitions is my first novella in the 1-800-DOM-help series from Ellora’s Cave. Writing this book was like a gift from my (smutty) muse. Simon and Gavin came to me complete (with a bow around their necks) and the story setup really flowed. I am really excited it will be out on November 10th and I hope to have the cover to share with you shortly.

In addition, I have a short story coming out as part of the EC Merry Kinkmas line. My story Firm Touch will be out on December 6th and has to deal with….

*drum roll*

M/M Fisting.

*and waits for the audience to breath again*

I know what you’re thinking, but it is a very thinking/smutty book. According to my beta readers, it’s pretty hot too LOL! I’ll have to wait to see what you all think about it.

In Progress

With all this going on, I’m not slowing down. I am currently working on No Master, which is book three in my space pirate series. This one is dealing with Korbin, the Admiral of the Black and Zain Strand, his second in command. I’m about a third of the way through I am hoping to have it finished by the end of December.

I’ll be working on a different book for NaNoWriMo. I’m still working out all the details, but the book will be three interconnected novellas. Should be a lot of fun. :)

I also have plans to do a second book for the 1-800-DOM-help series. More on that once I get it done. :)

Well, that’s me. As always, I’ll keep people posted of updates as they happen. I wish everyone a fantastic week!

No Remedy – First Review!

Every author holds his/her breath when a new book comes out. Once our baby is out there for public consumption, there is always the fear that people won’t like it. So when those first few reviews come in, it really means a lot.

Yesterday, I was floored to receive not one, but two super reviews. The wonderful Teela at Romance Writers Reviews gave both No Quarter and No Remedy five start reviews.

No Quarter

This was the first time I have read Christine D’Abo and she has definitely captured my attention with her writing technique, with her  funny, witty and complex characters. I fell in love with the characters and how they lived their lives and came together. I recommend this to any who love great characters and a great plot come together and make an explosive book that you just can’t put down. P.s. I especially love the plot twist.

No Remedy

This sequel to No Quarter continues to show off Christine D’Abo’s wonderful writing skills bringing three people together in a time of desperate need for all of them. Even if they don’t know it. Yet. Just like No Quarter I could not put No Remedy down. I was taken in and it just would not release until the end…..nope still hasn’t released me. I really hope Christine writes more in this series. I guarantee you will not regret buying this book.

Thank you so much, Teela for the awesome review and putting a huge smile on my face.

You can buy both e-books at Ellora’s Cave.

July Update

Holy cow, it’s been a while since I’ve had a chance to post on the blog. It’s been a crazy summer for me on a number of fronts.

My day job has seen me go off to Germany for a week. It was my first time in the country, but I can tell you it won’t be my last! I had an amazing time. The people were friendly and the weather was the hottest it had been all summer. I nearly died LOL!

I got to visit the cathedral in Aachen – we just don’t have places like this in Canada. The beauty of the church can’t be captured in this picture.

I was also able to see (from the outside because I had to catch a train) the cathedral in Koln. I would have killed for an hour to go exploring here.

I even got to stand on the highest point of the Netherlands! The Vaalserberg (“Mount Vaals”) is a hill 322.7 metres (1059 ft) in height.

It’s also where Germany, Netherlands and Belgium meet.

I have officially finished the sequel to No Quarter. Not only that, my wonderful, charming editor at Ellora’s Cave has already bought it! Letter of Marque will now officially be known as No Remedy! Contracts have been sent off and edits will start soon. :D This is Mace’s story and I love how her character has grown from book one. Book three is in the planning stage, and I’ll get to work on that in the fall.

While I was flying, I wasn’t able to sleep on the plane. This was a blessing and a curse, as it gave me lots of time to write. I was able to get a new novella started, which I finished yesterday. This will be part of a new multi-author series from Ellora’s Cave. I don’t want to give too much away at this point (we will have blogs and fun things to come), but my novella is done and ready to go off to my editor. Fingers crossed she likes it. :D

What’s on the burner for me now? Well, I have a submission ready to go off to Samhain in the next week. This is the beginning of a new paranormal romance series, and I’m crossing all appendages my new editor will like/want it. Any extra good luck anyone wants to send my way would be awesome. I’m also working on a quickie for EC’s Merry Kinkmas theme. I’ll be getting this one out the door in a week or two.

I’ll also be attending EC’s Romanticon in October. Not only will I be there for the fun and book signing, but I’m going to be presenting two workshops – one on GMC and the other on characterization. Hopefully, there will be more than just me in the room. :D

I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer so far. I’m still active on Twitter if you want to keep up with my daily musings. I will check back in for August, and then get back to a more frequent blogging schedule come fall.

And the winner is…

Hello everyone! I’m sorry  I didn’t get this posted before my family’s trip away this weekend. I just got back and we had a fantastic time. I also wanted to let everyone know that I’ll be sending Letter of Marque off to my editor as soon as my wonderful and talented critique partners are done ripping it apart. :D

And now to the contest!

After careful review of all the names, the one that jumped out at me the most was Wyvern suggested by Mina Gerhart! Congratulations Mina and thank you for the fantastic suggestion. I’ll be sending you an email offline to see which format of No Quarter you would like to have.

Updates

Hello all you wonderful people out there. I hope you have been having a great week where you are. In my neck of the woods, we got to experience an earthquake yesterday. I’m Canadian remember, not something we normally get up here. It was an interesting experience to say the least.

Fun times!

On the writing front, I am pleased to let you all know that Letter of Marque, the sequel to No Quarter, is done! I’m just going back now to tweak a few things, then it’s off to my critique partners and then my editor. I am soooo happy to have this one done. I can’t wait to share it with all of you. :D

A note to those of you who entered the Name That Ship contest. I will be picking a winner this weekend. Stay tuned!

Next on my plate is a m/m novella I’m writing as part of a multiy author EC series. I have to say I’m super excited to be a part of this and can’t wait to get the story done. I’m traveling for business soon which means I’ll have time to write waiting at the airport. Have to look at the positive side of these things. hehee! Once I’m done that story, I’ve decided to do a very short Quickie as part of the EC Merry Kinkmas theme. Fingers crossed it gets accepted.

You might have noticed the lack of banner on my blog. My wonderful web guy is in the process of updating WordPress for me. He’ll have the pretty back soon. :D

Finally, I’m thrilled to let everyone know that my EC editor has finally joined Twitter! You can follow her at @BriannaStJames if you want to see the craziness I put her through.

Be safe and have a great rest of your week everyone!

Help Name That Ship

I’m just about done the second book in my space pirate series. Oh, you didn’t know this?? Yes, I’ve decided that I’ll be doing more than one. There will be at least three books, more if you all enjoy them.

It started with No Quarter, Gar and Faolan’s story. Next will be Mace’s book, which is currently called Letter of Marque. The third book is going to be entitled Pieces of Eight and will feature the dark Admiral of the Black.

Here’s my dilemma…I need a name for his ship!

So I’ve decided to run a quick contest.

Post your suggestions for the name of the Admiral’s ship and I will pick the one I’ll use in the book. The winner will get an e-copy of No Quarter (and if you already have it, you can pick any other book from my backlist).

So get thinking and help a writer out!

Five Lips for No Quarter!!

As an author, we both anxiously await and dread the first review on any story we write. It’s waiting on pins and needles and never knowing if the result is going to be pleasant or a trip to the doctor.

I’m thrilled to say that the first review for No Quarter has left me with a smile on my face. I’ve received a five lip review from Two Lips Reviews!!

No Quarter by Christine D’Abo is a space adventure with a spicy twist. I loved Gar’s character; he is strong, determined and darn sexy.  He is good at bringing in the bad guys, but this mission is blurring the lines between the bad guys and the good guys…When you want adventure, romance and some hot manlove, you want No Quarter; this book delivers in spades, and it does it in all the ways that matter.

Thank you to Tina at Two Lips for making my weekend.

Where did she go?

Hello everyone.

While I know people don’t wait on the edge of their seat for me to update my blog, I do like to make sure I pop in and keep you all apprised of what’s going on in Christine’s world.

On the health front…

I think some of you were aware that I was quite sick at the beginning of the year. The good news is that I’ve gotten significantly better since January. The bad new is that some of the damage to my lungs appears to be permanent. The doctors don’t think it will have a major impact on my quality of life, so I’ll just have to keep an eye on things.

On the writing front…

I was thrilled to have No Quarter release on March 31st. The response from the few people I’ve talked to has been positive. No reviews yet to share, but hopefully soon. Regardless, I was so happy with how that story turned out, I’ve decided to continue writing in that universe for a while. I’m already halfway done writing the sequel,  Letter of Marque, and I have plans for a third novel. I’m tentatively calling it, Pieced of Eight.

I’m also super excited to let you know that the final edits for Mistress Rules have gone out the door. I’m now waiting to hear on a release date and get my cover. This story went from being a 15k Quickie, to a 26k novella. The changes gave me the chance to really explore the relationships between the main characters and hopefully give you all a super sexy story. More information on the Mistress when I get it. :)

On the TV front…

Supernatural is breaking my heart. You just know things are going to get so bad for the boys in the next four episodes. I’m going to be a mess come the finale, I can tell already.

Fringe redeemed itself in my eyes with last week’s episode. It was great to see Peter Weller on the screen again, and the whole plot line with Walter was excellent. I can’t wait for the fallout tonight. :D

I missed Glee this week, but I hope to watch it tonight. I really need fluff in my life right now.

DOCTOR WHO!!! Okay, I had reservations about Matt Smith, I’ll admit it. But wow, what a great first episode. Amy comes across as a mix of Rose and Donna, which I love. I knew having Stephen Moffatt at the helm was going to be fantastic. I’m just glad he’s proving me right.

So that’s it for me. How are you all doing?

And just as things settle

I’ve been so overwhelmed by the kind words I’ve received from those who have read No Quarter, it’s hard to imagine I have to move on from the boys. To be honest, I miss them. How they became my favourite characters to write, I’m not sure, but they were.

For those of you who have asked, yes Mace’s story is coming! I’m about halfway through the first draft and with any luck will have it done in the next month. Then it will be edits, edits, edits to make it perfect. I’ve decided to give her two men to play with – Byron and Alec. The boys both have their issues and Mace is doing her best to fix them. Of course, she has a few concerns of her own, not the least of which is trying to find a cure for Faolan.

Did I mention he’s still sick…? Maybe even dying…

In the meantime, I have received my edits for Mistress Rules and am frantically typing away to get them done.

What do you mean you don’t know about Mistress Rules??

*head-desk*

See, the boys distracted me!

Mistress Rules is my first attempt at a menage. Not only that, my heroine is a fem dom named Stella. Really, you can see why I had to write this – her name alone demanded it! I have to say, it was a bit of a challenge for me to get into the head of all three of these characters. I’m so pleased with how things turned out. Right now I’m putting in a few tweaks to make the world building a bit stronger. I should have a cover and more information on a release date soon.

So both Mistress and Mace will have their day in the next few months. I’ll keep you all posted.

On a non-writing related front, OMG SUPERNATURAL!! Has this season been amazing or what? The last two episodes have damn near broken my heart. I can’t wait to see how they are going to wrap this up.
