Updates, new books and reviews!

Happy Friday everyone!!! I’ve been slacking here at the old blog this past week, mostly because I’ve been super busy. Between new releases, promotion, my personal life and NaNo, I’ve been run off my feet.

Speaking of NaNo….

Still here!

I love doing NaNoWriMo…I really do. The sucky think about it though, is how it consumes your life. I haven’t had time to read, bathe (kidding (sort of)), or generally hang out. I also haven’t been blogging very much.

The good news is that I’m 37k into the story. I’m going to aim to hit 60k by the end of the month. I’m really enjoying the story and I love how things are working out for the characters. Let’s just hope you’ll all have a chance to read it someday. :D

I also have not had a lot of time to start telling everyone about Firm Touch! It will be coming out on Monday, December 6th and is part of Ellora’s Cave’s Merry Kinkmas series. If you haven’t had a chance to look, you should check out the Coming Soon pages to see what some of the other awesome stories are.

Blurb

Max has a secret. Max used to like to play on the wild side. Even though those days are now behind him, Max occasionally gets an itch for a particular fetish—one he would trust only Leo to scratch.

Leo would do anything for Max. One night after several rounds of tequila, Max confesses his desire to have Leo fist him. Though he is uncertain and concerned, Leo can’t get the thought out of his mind. He decides to give Max a Christmas present he won’t soon forget.

Well, I best get back to it. That NaNo book won’t write itself. :D

Commanding Acquisitions and NaNo

Hello everyone!

So I haven’t been around much on the old blog as I was hoping. NaNo has been keeping me very busy. I’m now officially 19k into the story and I’m so far pleased with how things are turning out. The first novella is shaping up nicely and I should be ready to move on to number two by next week.

More exciting for me this week, is the release of Commanding Acquisitions tomorrow! Simon and Gavin are raring to come out and play! I’ll be posting over on the 1-800-DOM-help blog tomorrow and we still have a few contests running over there. Go check it out!

Ooooh and because I’m feeling nice, here’s a little naughty bit from the story!

Excerpt

Anticipation made Simon’s skin tingle. There were so many options for him to start with, things he could do as an opportunity to learn Gavin and his body. Yet, this wasn’t about him and his needs. Simon didn’t need to worry about the business, bills or anything else beyond discovering what made Gavin tick. What it was that would give the other man the release he needed?

It was something Simon could control.

“Get up. Come to the table and tell me three things you want. If I approve, you may be fortunate enough to have them used on you.”

Gavin kept his arms where they were as he climbed back to his feet. It was rare for Simon to find a sub who followed his commands so exactly. Even Russ would take liberties with him, obeying the spirit of Simon’s laws if not the letter. Sometimes it was intentional, the other man wanting Simon to punish him, the thrill of pain and pleasure combining.

As Gavin moved to the table, Simon watched his gaze flow across the straps, dildos, gags and other toys. Smirking, Simon slid his leather jacket from his shoulders. “I want you to use your teeth, bring each one to me.”

The hitch in Gavin’s breathing told him it was the right thing to say.
Simon made his way over to the three quarter lounge in the center of the room. The soft fabric felt good under his touch. Spreading his legs wide, he waited until Gavin bent deeply at the waist to pick up his first selection.

The dark leather of the bridle straps were a contrast to the fair skin of Gavin’s face. It took Simon a moment to recognize the design, a slightly unusual one, but well within his realm of knowledge.

Pressing his index finger to his lips, Simon sat back further in his seat. “Why?”

Gavin leaned forward and dropped the bridle into Simon’s waiting hands. “Sir…it’s been a while.”

The admission strangely made Simon feel better. “Coming without permission certainly wouldn’t put me in a good mood.” He held it up, rubbing the soft leather between his fingers. “Come forward.”

It took some work to maneuver the leather over Gavin’s rock hard cock and around his balls. The ties dangled free to tickle the tops of his inner thighs. That sensation alone would be a continued tease in addition to what Simon had in store for the man.

“You are not to come until I give you permission. If you feel you are getting close, you will pull this tight to prevent it. If you are unable to, tell me. Do you understand?”

Gavin nodded.

Simon slapped Gavin’s thigh. “What was that?”

“Yes Sir,” Gavin said on a gasp.

The picture that the black leather against the angry red skin painted pushed Simon dangerously close to the edge.

“Go get your second item.”

Gavin moved faster this time, but still possessing all the grace Simon had begun to associate with him. The second selection took a little bit longer, but Simon wasn’t disappointed when the item fell into his lap.
Holding up the butt plug, he couldn’t keep the smirk from his face.

“I’m not sure if this is sufficient.” He turned the item around in his hand. “It’s much smaller than I am. While I want you tight, I don’t want to…damage you.”

The look in Gavin’s eyes wasn’t one of belief.

“Get the next size up. Quickly!”

NaNo Update and a Blog Post

Hello peeps! Yes, I’ve survived another NaNo day with my word count intact! I didn’t get as much written yesterday due to the craziness of my life, but managed just over 2k, to take me to over 6k total. With luck I’ll get another 2k written today as well.

I’ve also posted a blog over at the 1-800-DOM-help site talking about what it means to be submissive. I’d love for you to pop over and check it out.

NaNo Day One – Head-Desk

I love the frantic pace of NaNo. Normally, I have a pretty good idea where I’m going with a story, so as long as I keep plugging away I do fairly well.

Yesterday was the first push and I was pumped! Day one is an exciting and scary time for most writers, though I tend to lean to the bouncy-excited end of the spectrum. On my lunch hour I bravely opened up a blank word document and begun…to stare. I had no idea how to start the book.

So I just typed the first thing that came to mind. I kept going even though I wasn’t comfortable with the first bit. I continued to push through even though there was something bugging me about the story.

In the end I managed to write 4100 words, a new day one personal best (yes I have a spreadsheet that tracks my word count for the past five years).  I turned off my computer and went to sleep, happy with what I had done, but still unsettled with the overall story.

I woke up promptly at 5:23am and realized I’d started the story in the wrong spot. Totally, utterly wrong.

The good news is that I can keep everything I’ve written and simply push it back a chapter. I worked out what I needed for chapter one while trying to not wake up my husband, and am ready to get it down on paper today.

Now I just need to find the time to write LOL!

I hope everyone else made out well with their NaNo Day one.

Let the Games Being

Here it is…day one of National Novel Writing Month. I’m excited to get started today and am itching for my lunch hour. Actually, that could simply be the Halloween candy.

I’m going to be pondering my characters while I work at the day job, then I plan on tackling the first chapter on lunch. I’ll keep you posted on how I make out.

Let me know if you’re doing NaNo as well. And don’t forget to follow me on the site. I’m there as Christine99.

State of the Bedroom…err Union

Sunday is supposed to be a day for reflection. As I sit here on my bed, cup of coffee in hand, I’m trying to get my head around a lot of news I’ve received recently. Thankfully, most of it is good! I thought I’d share with you some of the things coming up in the Christineland.

In Print

I found out on Friday that not one, or two, but three of my Ellora’s Cave books will be coming out in print in 2011! For those of you collecting the paperbacks, both The Bond That Consumes Us and The Bond That Saves Us will be hitting the shelves. I’m also thrilled to have learned that Primal Elements will also be coming out in print! I’ll keep you posted on any other updates.

New Sales

I have a very exciting new sale that I am desperate to announce, but I can’t quite yet. I just received the contract and will be sending it in shortly (must give it a good read through first). Let’s just say I’m VERY excited with this one.

EDIT: Hell, I just read the contract and signed, so I’m going to announce it anyway! I’m thrilled to say that my short story, Bruised Ego, will be in the November 2011 Berkley anthology, Agony and Ecstacy. To say I’m still in shock is an understatement. I have to thank J.K Coi for encouraging (making) me write this story right before the deadline. Even better? Her story also got in!!!

Reviews

Thank you to everyone who has bought and read No Remedy! I have received a ton of emails on this book and many people are also going back to read No Quarter. I had this review from Carla at RomFan Reviews pop up in my Google Alerts. They gave No Remedy a five hunk rating! Thanks to them and please check out their other reviews.

I know I’ve said it before, but to everyone who has taken the time to either place a review on Goodreads, the Ellora’s Cave site, a blog or even sent me an email – THANK YOU! Your comments mean so much to me.

Coming Soon

I have two releases coming out in the next few weeks! Commanding Acquisitions is my first novella in the 1-800-DOM-help series from Ellora’s Cave. Writing this book was like a gift from my (smutty) muse. Simon and Gavin came to me complete (with a bow around their necks) and the story setup really flowed. I am really excited it will be out on November 10th and I hope to have the cover to share with you shortly.

In addition, I have a short story coming out as part of the EC Merry Kinkmas line. My story Firm Touch will be out on December 6th and has to deal with….

*drum roll*

M/M Fisting.

*and waits for the audience to breath again*

I know what you’re thinking, but it is a very thinking/smutty book. According to my beta readers, it’s pretty hot too LOL! I’ll have to wait to see what you all think about it.

In Progress

With all this going on, I’m not slowing down. I am currently working on No Master, which is book three in my space pirate series. This one is dealing with Korbin, the Admiral of the Black and Zain Strand, his second in command. I’m about a third of the way through I am hoping to have it finished by the end of December.

I’ll be working on a different book for NaNoWriMo. I’m still working out all the details, but the book will be three interconnected novellas. Should be a lot of fun. :)

I also have plans to do a second book for the 1-800-DOM-help series. More on that once I get it done. :)

Well, that’s me. As always, I’ll keep people posted of updates as they happen. I wish everyone a fantastic week!

It’s that time again

That’s right, November is fast approaching. Let’s not stop and think about how quickly 2010 has gone and focus instead on the fact that it’s almost time for National Novel Writing Month!

Once again, I will be cracking my knuckles and getting to work on a new novel. This year I’ve decided to work on three interconnected novellas , focusing on three siblings. I almost have the plots worked out, but will tweak once I get writing.

As I’ve done in the past, I’ll be tracking my progress on the blog. This may send some of you screaming for a while, but for others you can commiserate with my challenges as I push through the month.

Is anyone else going to be doing NaNo this year? I am on the site as Christine99. Please feel free to friend me. :)

NaNoWriMo – Week 2 Report

Last week was insane. I was involve with a conference for my day job and it really kept me hopping. Nothing like 14 hour work days for a solid week to make you appreciate 9-5. Of course, this coincided with week two of NaNo. I knew this going in, of course, but didn’t want to lose too much traction. I know myself well enough to realize I’d be more likely to give up if I fell too far behind.

So before I’d head out to the conference floor, every morning I tried to write at least 1000 words. It was hard going, and I had to do some writing on the plane, but I managed to get a total of 10k written. This got me to over the 30k mark by the end of week two.

Am I happy? Oh yeah baby!!

Yesterday marked the beginning of week three and I somehow managed to pound out 3k. If I can keep that pace up for the rest of the week, then I’ll be officially done NaNo by Saturday. Not done the book mind you, but at least I’ll have jumped that first hurdle.

The story itself is still coming on strong. Where this is my first non-romance, I’ve been a bit antsy that the plot isn’t exciting enough to keep the reader engaged. I haven’t been going back to re-read more than a few paragraphs for fear of getting stuck in revising before I have the whole plot worked out. So onward and upward to finish the first draft, then off to clean it up.

I will be happy once the pressure of NaNo is done. I’m starting to miss my TV shows. :)

NaNoWriMo – Week One

Yes, once again I have joined the craziness that is NaNoWriMo. This is my fifth year participating and I’m always amazing by the volume of excitement generated by the even.

Personally, I love it!

So, I’ve jumped head first into my urban paranormal and have really connected with the plot and characters. For me, NaNo helps me get that first draft out of my head and onto the paper as quickly as possible. I know I will have to go back and add to the scenes, but the fundamentals will be there, ready and waiting.

In order to achieve the goal of hitting 50k in 30 days, you need to write 1,667 words a day. For some of you, this sounds like an awful lot. For others, a more than doable goal. For me, I’ve upped that goal to 3,000 words a day in the hopes I’ll get closer to finishing the first draft.

Today marks day six of NaNo, and I’m thrilled to say I’ve crossed the 15,000 word mark already. There is still another day and a half to go before week one is officially done. I’m going to try and push myself to cross 20,000 by end of day Saturday.

Crazy? I didn’t think there was any question of that.

If you are on Twitter, you can follow other NaNo folks by the #NaNoWriMo and #nanocout hash tags. Lots of fantastic people to keep your motivation going. Of course, there is also the official site at www.nanowrimo.org. If you’re interested, you can follow me there by searching for Christine99.

Who else is doing NaNo this year? How are you making out?
