Happy Friday!

It’s a beautiful day today. The sun is out, the weather is warm, and I’ve had ice cream. Well, it was actually a fruit bar…but still good!

For the first time in several weeks I feel like I can relax and take a breath. It’s a feeling I’m going to hold on to for the rest of the weekend.

I wish everyone a fantastic weekend. :D

Summer Mode

I can’t believe it’s June. Really, I was totally stunned when I had to flip my calendar today and had June 1st staring me in the face (well, it’s actually Gareth David-Lloyd staring at  me from my Torchwood calendar :D ). Where did the year go?? So much has been happening in the past few months, it’s hard to keep up with it all.

In six months I’ve seen the release of All Bottled Up (my first Samhain book), finished and sold The Bond That Saves Us, had my first print release with The Bond That Saves Us, with two more coming this year. I’ve branched out with my writing and have finished book one and half of book two in a new paranormal series. I’ve also dove into a fantastic new idea for an urban paranormal. This is my first attempt at a non-romance and I’m having a blast!

I was fortunate enough to make it to Romantic Times in Orlando this year and had an amazing time. It was humbling to be at the book signing and have someone say they loved my writing. It was the most amazing feeling in the world!

Who knows what will happen in the next six months. I’m going to keep writing as long as there is someone there to enjoy reading it. I want to thank everyone who has been with me this far, and I hope we’ll have fun in the second half of 2009!

Still alive

I can’t believe it has been a weeks since I’ve blogged. Shows just how quickly things can get away from you. This past week I’ve been working on edits and fighting a chest infection. This is the second bad one I’ve had this year and I’m, quite frankly, tired of being sick. I’ll take all cyber prayers that I’ll finally get over this.

On the edit front, it is going well. I’m about halfway through The Bond That Saves Us, cleaning up the little things and making those love scenes nice and steamy for everyone. I can’t wait to share with you the end product.

This weekend will be mostly edits…and sleep. If the sun ever decides to come out again, I might squeeze in some gardening. I need to finish my backyard flower beds!

I hope everyone out there is well.

Man…

So I got home Monday from Florida and ever since I’ve been smacked down by seasonal allergies. I get them every year, but for some reason it’s really bad this time around. I’m dopey and half stoned from the allergy pills I’m taking. With any luck it won’t last too long. I have too much to do!

I haven’t dug my camera out yet to upload my pictures, but I’ll try to do that this evening. I really had a fantastic time and was so thrilled to meet many of my favourite authors in person. Added icing on the cake…got to hang out with Anna and December for the first time, and was able to reconnect with Renee, Cathy and Lilly!

Best time ever.

The Cave…is dark

To those few of you who actually ready my blog (I think there is 5 LOL), sorry I haven’t been around much the past little bit. Between not feeling great, my day job, family and trying to get edits done, well…the blog has suffered.

I do try to pop on to Twitter a few times a day though, so you can see my random musings there. Most of them are coffee induced ramblings, so be warned.

I’m finding it interesting going through the edits of my current manuscript. Once I got past the “OMG this is terrible” freakout phase I normally go through, I was able to focus with the pointed direction of a few reviewers. I have to say, the end result is much stronger than I thought it would be. This makes me happy. :D

Editing at Starbucks is also working. Sunday mornings after swimming lessons is mentally a good space for me. Now, I just need to pick one or two nights though the week that I can go as well. If I do, I might be able to finish these edits up and send it off to the two requests I’ve had for it.

On the TV front, I’m finally starting to get into Dollhouse. The last two weeks were very strong on the plot, and the acting was great. I’m actually starting to like Echo a bit more than I had. Supernatural is still AWESOME! Man, I adore that show. The stories really push the actors to show a wide range of skills, and keep me wanting a whole lot more. I haven’t looked forward to Thursdays this much ever.

I hope all your lives are going well these days.

Ugh

I’ve been out of commission for the past two days with the stomach flu. I’m just starting to come to life now, which really sucks. With any luck, I’ll be back to normal tomorrow so I can get back focused on writing and work.

*sigh*

The Watchmen

There have only been a few movies that I’ve wanted to see recently. Really, it’s been a bit of a slump for sci-fi (well, good sci-fi at least) over the past little while. But all that is going to change in March.

I will admit, I didn’t know a lot about The Watchmen, other than it was a graphic novel that all my male friends gushed over. All that changed when I A) saw the trailer and B) learned that Jeffery Dean Morgan was in it. (NOM Nom nom nom)

The special effects look amazing from the little I’ve seen. I know the story is going to be solid, as long as they didn’t mess around with the origninal plot too much. Seeing as its nearly three hours long, I’m thinking they didn’t. So lots of cool characters, interesting story, good effects, and it all boils down to me actually forking out $24 for tickets and $20 for a babysitter so hubby and I can go.

I can’t wait!!

The only other movie I’m really looking forward to this spring is the new Star Trek. *drool*

And just in case you HAVEN’T seen it…

Vacation Recovery and New Projects

I have to say, taking a vacation when you aren’t completely stressed out makes for a nice change. Instead of spending the week trying to recover, I was actually able to have fun and enjoy myself. With my mom up, I put my poor husband to work. We hung pictures on walls that have been bare for over a year, hung curtains (chocolate brown, and I’m going to pain the room a blue), and even put some shelves up. I think I’m all decorated out LOL!

With my house now in order (and mostly clean), I’m ready to start a new project. I tried to do some writing last night, but had a few false starts. After sleeping on it, I think I may have worked out what some of the basic plot issues were. I may leave it to mull over a bit more though, and continue working on the other book I started.

This weekend, I’m getting together with some friends for a writing weekend. I am super excited about the whole thing, and can’t wait to immerse myself in writing geekdom. :D Of course, there will be wine and chocolate…

How was everyone’s week?

Shopping and Spending and Vacations…Oh My!

I’m on vacation! This is a wonderful feeling for me, as I’m one of these high strung, bouncy, hyper people. When I go on vacation, it’s usually for stress relief, but not this time. My parents are up visiting, and we are having a wonderful time.

One of the things my mum and I do when we get together is home decorating. I’m usually so busy in my daily life, that I don’t have time to worry about things like pictures on the walls. But when she’s up, I tend to go out and have fun buying things for my house. Today we are going drape shopping. Who knew I would get excited about drapes!

I’m also taking a short break from my writing while they are here. Next week I’m going to be diving head first into a new project, so  I think I’ve earned a small reprieve. It’s giving me a chance to mull things over in my head. :D

How is everyone else making out? I hope you are all well. :D

Love Is In The Air

Yeah!! It’s happy, squishy, gooey, love day!!! Well, tomorrow is at least. :D I’m a firm believer (as I think a lot of people are) that you should show your family and friends how much you love them year round, and not make such a big deal about Valentine’s Day. I mean, it’s a fantastic excuse for chocolate and stuff, but very commercial.

One of the things I do love doing, it buying my girls Valentine’s Day treats. It was always fun for me to get some chocolates from my parents. Mind you, Valentine’s Day is also my younger sister’s birthday. They didn’t want me to feel left out…

Speaking of which, my baby sister turns thirty-two tomorrow. This sounds very, very odd to me…because she’s my baby sister. And if she’s turning thirty-two, that means I’m  turning thirty-five this summer and that’s just WRONG!

*sob*

Tomorrow is also our RWA chapter meeting. I’m excited to be going and to have a chance to see everyone. There will be lots of hugs to go around (you’ve all been warned!). And when I get home, I have a nice  evening planned with my husband.

It makes me all squishy inside!
