Print Releases and Torchwood!

Happy Friday everyone!! It’s a beautiful day here in Christineland and I’m looking forward to enjoying it. This weekend I’ll be puttering around my new house, doing a lot of the outdoor things I’d been putting off. Weeding, watering and clipping.

But while I’m out doing that, I’ll be working on my latest WIP in my head. I’m nearly done the first draft and would like to get everything wrapped up by the end of July. Then, I’ll be taking August off. I hope. :)

Today marks the print release of Don’t Ask, Never Tell. This is the anthology that Chasing Phoenix will be appearing in. I’m there along side my good friends Wylie Kinson with her story Law Of Averages, and JK Coi and her story The Morning After.

Of course I would hope you would like to read Chasing Phoenix, but if you haven’t read the other two stories in this antho, you really must. Let’s say I’m completely honored to be included in a book with these two lovely ladies.

I’ve also learned that The Bond That Consumes Us is making it’s way to print on Tuesday, July 12th!!! This is book three in the Eternal Bond series, and I think my personal favorite. Taber was one of those characters who came to me complete, brooding and very male. To be able to hold this book in my hands will be a treat I can’t explain.

Finally, I’m excited about Torchwood starting up tonight. Now, I’m still torn. I hated the end of Children of Earth.

SPOILER ALERT – Stop reading if you don’t want to know.

*waiting*

Okay, so Ianto was my favorite character. Yes, I was devastated that he was killed off. That wasn’t my issue with the show. They killed kids. I don’t watch any shows that hurt children. It’s my own personal quirk. There is enough of that shit going on in real life, that I don’t want to see it in my entertainment. I honestly didn’t think I would even want to see the show again.

*okay spoilers done*

However, I’m an addict. And I love Captain Jack. So….much to my husband’s tease about me flip-flopping…I’m going to give Miracle Day a shot. If they behave themselves, I’ll keep watching.

Predictions from me…

Rhys will die by the end of the series.

Knowing me, I’ll post some reactions a bit later on. :D

Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy Days, Release Week!

This week is going to be awesome! I have more than a few good things going on in my world over the next few days.

Today is actually my husband’s 40th birthday. I met him when he was 17 and he’s been in my life ever since. We had a wonderful party for him on the weekend and today we plan on taking it easy.

Happy Birthday sweetie!!

On Wednesday I’ll be celebrating the release of No Master. This is book three in my Bounty series (space pirates) and I’m scared/excited for it to hit the cyber-world. Writing this book was a love/hate thing for me. It challenged me in many ways as a writer. I wanted the story to be dark, but I needed to make sure I could find a way out for both Korbin and Zain. I hope the end result will be enjoyable for everyone.

I just found out this morning that my novella, Chasing Phoenix, will be available in print on Friday! I’m excited for the story to be in an anthology entitled, Don ‘t Ask, Never Tell,  with my good friends Wylie Kinson and JK Coi. These are all very sexy and fun stories, so I hope you’ll check them out.

Finally, on July 8th the new Torchwood series premiers! Now, we all remember my bitterness toward my favorite show at the end of Children of Earth (still sad), but after two years of mourning, I’ve decided to give it a shot. I mean, Bill Pullman is the villain in this…and I still have a soft spot for John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. I’ll be doing some spoiler free reaction posts for anyone who cares to see.

Sooooo that’s me this week. As always, you can check out my insane daily musings on Twitter, and see what I’ve been reading over on Goodreads.

New Week!

I’m back everyone! I hope you all had a super fantastic weekend. I know I had a wonderful time with my family–lots of chocolate, games and wine. :D

I didn’t get any writing done, but I’m not overly upset about that. I did manage over 6000 words before I went away, so there wasn’t any guilt about missing this weekend. I plan on jumping back on the writing wagon today and will aim for at least 1500 words tonight.

When I got back home, much to my delight, I found this fantastic review for Chasing Phoenix from ecataromance!

A tale of sensuality and exploring the imagination, Chasing Phoenix by Christine D’Abo is also about bringing to life a fantasy. The sexy antics between Michael and Abbey left me with goose bumps while also hungering for more. I loved Abbey because she was able to discover what she wanted in a relationship and I also enjoyed Michael because he was able to look past the fantasy to find a woman who could give him what he wanted and also bring to life her hidden personalities. This book is a quickie and definitely not sweet by any means, it’s erotic and raunchy but so delicious and one I’m glad to have read.

So tell me, how was your weekend?

Tooting My Own Horn

I had a wonderful surprise this weekend. I found out that both Chasing Phoenix and Sweet and Spicy Spells received five angel reviews from Fallen Angels!!

I’m pumped because this is the first review we’ve received for Sweet and Spicy. It was so much fun to write it, its nice to see people are liking it.

Chasing Phoenix – Silver Star Award!!

I’m still grinning like a fool here. I just found out that Chasing Phoenix received a 5 Star, Silver Star Award from Just Erotic Romance Reviews!!

Incessant pestering from his friend pushes Michael Quinn to attend a short 10 minute storytelling performance to have a look at the mysterious Lady Phoenix and to find out her identity. Quite shocked to see her co-worker and friend Michael blindfolded at one of her performances, Abbey gives in to her pent up temptation and gives out an erotic performance. Stunned by Lady Phoenix’s sensuality, Michael realizes he wants the whole package, not just the promise of a story, but is Abbey willing to come out and share her naughty side?

Chasing Phoenix is an award worthy short story with amazing characters. Both sides of Abbey’s character are brilliant. She thrills while playing sultry in high heels and is absolutely charming when playing the loyal friend. I joyfully was having a hell of a time while Michael ran around looking for clues to uncover his mysterious woman. I could feel his frustration as Lady Phoenix slipped out of his hands many a time and he couldn’t do anything despite knowing that she was somebody from his office. I couldn’t help but chuckle at his thwarted attempts that mange to leave him in highly compromising positions. Their relationship has generous doses of passion, intrigue and fantasy and doesn’t feel over the top. Sexual tension had me moaning out loud and I was torn between wanting to finish the story and hurrying to find some relief of my own. Ms. d’Abo has covered every aspect of the story despite its short length. The captivating story line will engage readers by making us wonder how and when the truth will surface. No question is left unanswered as the intriguingly passionate plot winds down to an equally thrilling end. Lady Phoenix’s story telling totally mesmerized me and had a double effect, as I knew Michael was having the same intense feelings. As a friend to both Michael and Abbey, Andrew manages to make his presence felt by being a loveable pest. You will feel like you know Ms. d’Abo’s characters and will miss them when you have to put the book down. It isn’t often that I find a book of such a short length that involves me so much that the rest of the world just disappears for awhile.  For all of these reasons, I find that Chasing Phoenix is a quick read that demands a Silver Star Award.

2007 Goal Recap

I find it hard to believe that 2007 is done tonight. This has been an amazing year for me personally and professionally. A lot of changes, many of them huge, have kept me on my toes. I thought before I post my goals for 2008 tomorrow, I’d take a look at what I’d hoped to accomplish in 2007. This was from a Thursday Thirteen post last December and I’m amazed at how well I did.

1. To get published. The funny thing with this goal is that it was the first one I completd. About a month after putting this on my site, I sold The Bond That Ties Us to Ellora’s Cave. :D

2. To write consistently every day for one hour. I somehow managed to be pretty consisten with this one. Many days I managed to write longer than an hour, but I kept myself to this. I think its made a big difference with not only my output, but with my quality.

3. To read five writing craft books. Oh I fell short on this one. I think I only managed to read one and a half. I really need to get better with this.

4. To read two new releases a month. Yeah, I didn’t managed this, though I read quite a few new releases. I might have averaged two a month, but I tended to read them in spurts. I’m going to continue with this though.

5. To finish the second draft of All Bottled Up. Done!! This is now sitting with a few editors, so cross your fingers.

6. To finish the second draft of Summer Theatre (novella). This actually turned out to be Chasing Phoenix, which was releasd on December 14th from EC!

7. To plot and finish the follow up manuscript to All Bottled Up. I didn’t do this one because I hadn’t sold All Bottled Up. I do have it plotted, but I’m going to wait to write it. Hopefully, I’ll be working on it soon.

8. To finish the first draft of Perfect Match. This is done and sitting with my editor right now. Cross your fingers that Bree likes it. :D

9. If Ellora’s Cave doesn’t buy The Bond that Ties Us, to send out partials to at least three publishing houses. Wasn’t a need to do this because EC bought it!!

10. To query at least three agents this year. I actually queried five…and got four rejections and am currently waiting on the fifth. I’m not so worried about this and I’m glad I went through the process. The agent thing will happen when it’s meant to be.

11. To send All Bottled Up to at least three publishers. Did this. Have gotten two rejections and I’m waiting on the third and forth ones. I hope I’ll hear something in January on this.

12. To send Summer Theatre to at least one publisher. Sent it to EC and they bought it. :D

13. To blog at least five times a week.  Oh yeah I did this. And I joined up with my Sexy sisters over at Six Degrees of Sexy too. Love those girls!

So surprisingly, I didn’t do too badly in 2007. In addition to the goals I set out, I sold an  additional book, Sweet and Spicy Spells, which has been doing awesome! I’m hoping 2008 will be as good for me. :D
How did you make out with your goals??

I had a Christmas party last night at my house. Everyone came over and we ate, played Dance Dance Reveloution and Wii games. We had a ball! I’m a bit behind on my email and blogs as a result, but I’ll be stopping by to say hi today. :D

No TT this week…but

I’m guest blogging over at Shelley Munro’s blog today. :D You get to find out all about the craziness I call, “Getting ready for Christmas”!

I’m giving away a copy of Chasing Phoenix to one lucky commentor, so come say hi!

One Week Until the Chase Begins!

I can’t believe it, but Chasing Phoenix will be out next Friday! I just love this Quickie and I can’t wait to share it with you all. A little hot fun for the chilly nights ahead. :D

This weekend I’ll be going to my TRW Christmas party. This is only the second meeting I’ve been able to attend this year, not bad considering I’ve lived in a different part of the country for most of the year. I’m looking forward to being able to see Amy, Wylie and the rest of the TRW crew. I’ll try and take some pictures. :D

This weekend I also have to finish my final edits for Chasing Phoenix and start my edits on Taber’s story so I can get it sent off to my editor.

What are your plans?
