Things are Moving!

So maybe I need to post more blogs becasue yesterday, I was seriously motivated. I managed to get my read through done for my submission. Cut quite a bit, tightened some more and even got it off to my fantastic critique partners. I got through a contest entry (mostly) before I fell asleep at my keyboard.A very productive night.

I got stuff done! *does a snoopy dance

Today, I managed to get about a 1000 words written on my WIP before heading out to work. It was early morning, so I may have to tweak when I get to read it over tonight. Still, forward motion is positive. :D I also have a plan for another story that is half done.Been turning that puppy over in my mind all day.

I think what I need to do is make myself a bit of a project plan. What I want to work on and when I hope to have it finished by. I’m a task list kind of girl, so having things to check off makes me happy. I’ll give that a think.

The good news is that the writing is finally happening again. The editing is going well. I should have a release date for The Bond That Saves Us soon. You can pre-order All Bottled Up on both Amazon and Chapters websites (I giggled when I saw that last one), and I’ll have at least one more print book out by October.

I am a happy author today. :D

Four Cups for All Bottled Up!

I just found out that All Bottled Up received four cups from Coffee Time Romance! I’m doing a major snoopy dance over this one. Thanks to Lototy for the fantastic review. :D

This is a fabulously fun and playfully erotic love story. Jerod and Viola are vivacious, full of life, and refreshingly normal. I especially love how the author develops Viola’s transformation in a purely natural way. She is someone we can all relate to, and her story is a real pleasure to read.

All Bottled Up Released!

*throws confetti*

It’s out! It’s out!

My first release from Samhain Publishing is out today, and I have to say I am super excited about this. All Bottled Up was my 2006 NaNoWriMo novel, and one of the first books that I’ve written with a bit of a comedic slant to it. Yes, I know, you’d think that I’d try to write funny more, but it’s HARD! I do dark and broody so much easier. LOL!

This book is special to me because of it taking place in Halifax, NS. I lived there for just over a year, and absolutely adore the city. I wanted to try and work in some of the flavor of the location, and hope I’ve managed to do that.

I also love that this was my first successfully completed NaNoWriMo book. That competition has been a wonderful motivator for me over the years, and the sense of accomplishment I felt after “winning” with ABU was fantastic. It’s also how I met the amazing Amy Ruttan. She’s my buddy. :D

I hope you all enjoy the story, and that it makes you smile.

All Bottled Up

Getting closer

Well, I’m really not ready for Christmas. I’m getting close, but not there yet. You’d think I’d learn by now to do my shopping in November like all the normal people, but ooooh noooo, not me. Today I have to run to the post office to mail a package out East, need to get some shopping done for my girls, and somehow do all of this while it feels like my face is going to explode. I hate colds.

Good things going on? Well, I got my last shipment from Amazon on Friday. That means more yummy books to read. :) I’ve had a bit of a mental breakthrough on one of the stories I’m writing. And I had a fantastic TRW meeting on Saturday. So, that’s all keeping me smiling.

And most importantly, All Bottled Up is going to be released in 22 days!!! I’m really excited about this story coming out for a nuber of reasons. First, it’s my first book from Samhain. Second, it takes place in my former city of residence Halifax, NS. And finally, the cover rocks!!

What are you looking forward to? Ready for Christmas??

All Bottled Up!!

Oh I’m just bouncing!! I am absolutely THRILLED to show you my brand new cover for All Bottled Up!!

Isn’t it gorgeous. :D

I also found out that I’ve made it to the Samhain Coming Soon pages already. I’ve been giggling ever since Leah told me.

I wrote this book for NaNoWriMo in 2006, and it really was a labor of love. Here’s the blurb!

Call center worker Viola White stumbles across a genie in a bottle on a trip to Mexico, giving her wildest dreams a chance to come true. But when she wishes to be taught how to seduce her boss, she doesn’t count on falling in love with her teacher—a three-thousand-year-old genie.

Jerod is tired of serving up the frivolous wishes of his masters. It’s not until he meets Viola that he is tempted to try and make a life for himself. With time running out, Jerod must convince Viola to forget her infatuation with her boss, and see that he’s the right genie for the job of loving her.

All Bottled Up will be releasing January 6th, 2009 from Samhain. :)

Done!

*runs a victory lap*

First round of edits for All Bottled Up and done and sent off. I’m so pleased with the changes, and how they help clean up my character’s motivation. I’m glad I was able to finish this up, because I was hit with a pretty nasty migraine this weekend. Really has knocked the stuffing out of me the past few days.

On the TV front, tonight Heroes is on. I’m going to give this show about a month and then we’ll have to see if I’ll keep watching. House and NCIS on the other hand were excellent. I haven’t watched CSI yet, but I have it recorded, so I’ll get to it this week.

I need to get going again with my writing. I haven’t worked on a new project seriously in a while. NaNoWriMo is coming up, and I’ve always had really good luck doing that. I’m going to spend October getting back into the groove, then hit the pavement hard in November.

How is everyone else doing this week so far?

Editing Cave

I’m peeking my head out of the editing cave to say hello. I had a long but productive weekend reviewing and cleaning up my manuscript for All Bottled Up. The good news is that I’m almost done! It’s funny how one or two little changes can have such an impact on a story. Thankfully, they are for the better and are making the story snappier….I hope….

I finally got around to watching the season priemier of House this weekend. The last episode last season broke my heart, and this one didn’t do much to mend it. God I love this show! I’m anxious for Tuesday to come now so I can see how House is going to get out (or further in) to this mess. This week also has most of my other shows starting up. I won’t get to see most of them, but this season I’m prepared! I have a PVR (is that right??) to record shows, so I won’t have to miss any. That means I can have my cake (TV shows) and eat it too (get writing done).

*does a snoopy dance*

So what shows are you looking forward to this week? Any??

Friday!!

So yesterday was a bit stressful in my world. Nothing major, just the EDJ getting the better of me. HOWEVER!! I got my series two DVDs of Torchwood yesterday. Oh yes, I did a happy dance at the mailbox let me tell you. So hubby and I have started watching them over at series one, and will continue through to the end. :D

On the writing front, I’m just about done my first round of edits for All Bottled Up. I’m really excited about this book, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it! January 2009 can’t come fast enough.

This weekend I need to clean my house. Things are starting to have conversations with me as I walk past…and they’re not my children. So the dirt my go!

What are you up to this weekend?

Woohoo!! Sold All Bottled Up!

Oh I’m doing the happy dance here people! I just found out that I sold my light paranormal All Bottled Up to Samhain. The contract is in the mail and I can’t tell you how thrilled I am that this one will be making it out there for you to read. I love this one

It’s the story of Viola, a call center worker from Halifax who wins a trip to Mexico. She stumbles upon a genie in a bottle and then proceeds to make her wishes – she wants Jerod to teach her how to seduce a man.

Of course our poor three thousand year old genie doesn’t count on falling in love with his new master. And fun was had by all!
