Coming to an end

I’m sitting here at my desk looking at my calendar. August will be done next week. DONE! I have no idea where the summer has gone. I was planning on taking most of it off from writing to focus on other things (snort) and instead had a bunch of submissions.

Worse problems to have, right? Continue reading ‘Coming to an end’

Review – Steamlust: Steampunk Erotic Romance

There is nothing like getting a great review to put a smile on an author’s face! I’ll be picking up this month’s RT Book Reviews (and you should too!) so I can save a copy of our first review for Steamlust!

RT has given the anthology a 4 star rating, and The Undeciphered Heart even got a small shout out.

*does a snoopy dance*

Steamlust isn’t out until October 11th, but you can pre-order it here.

Progress

It’s shocking to look at the calendar and realize today is the 17th of august. I started off at the beginning of the month with a personal goal to write 1k a day. I figure it’s time I give you all an update, just to keep myself honest.

I’ve fallen short of my goal on 4 of the 17 days. However, I’ve completed a novella, wrote a short for an anthology call, wrote an essay that will be included in a how to book (woot!!) and have gotten back to book 4 of my Long Shots series.

To say I’m pleased with my progress to date is an understatement. :D

The next few days will be a challenge to get my writing in, but I’m going to take a stab at it anyway. I’d love to get the first draft of book four done by the middle of September.

I hope your summer has been going wonderfully!

Introducing – Pulled Long

The third story in the Long Shots series is Ian’s. When I had this series in mind, Ian was the first character who popped into my mind. A customer visits the shop and Ian develops a bit of a crush. It takes him the better part of the first two stories to figure out that his mysterious customer might offer something more than simple flirtation. If only he could learn the other man’s name.

Introducing – A Shot In The Dark

Today I wanted to introduce you to book two of my Long Shots series, coming this fall from Carina Press!

A Shot In The Dark centers around Paige, the oldest of the Long siblings. Paige has had terrible relationships in the past and for the time being, sworn off men. Especially dominant men – even though that’s who she’s the most attracted to.But when Carter walks into the coffee shop one night, she knows she’d in trouble.

Introducing – Double Shot

I thought I’d take the next few days to officially introduce to you my series that is coming this fall to Carina Press. For a book that started out as a conversation I had with JK Coi in my car driving back home from a Toronto Romance Writers meeting only a year ago, I can’t believe how quickly things happened.

Girls Who Bite Contest!!

I thought I’d take a break from my writing updates (and I’ve managed to make 9 of the 11 days of writing at least 1k), to let everyone know about this awesome contest.

Still Motoring

Oops, I forgot to post my update yesterday! I was up to my eyeballs (as usual), but things should settle down today. :D

Day two and three of my 1k a day challenge were a success! I finished the chapter I was working on for the zombie smut book I’m co-writing with the awesome Del Dryden, and have started expanding a short story I’d written so I can send it off to my editor at Ellora’s Cave. My goal is to have that short done and edited by the end of next week so I can send it off. With luck it will be sooner.

My next project is still up in the air. I have two books I could work on. One is book four of my Long Shots series. I’m 2/3 of the way through the first draft, so it’s likely to win. I also have a revise and resubmit on a paranormal that I’ve been sitting on for a while. That might be project two. We’ll have to see what my muse says. :)

This weekend will be a bit of a challenge for me. I am going camping, so being able to write 1k a day might not work. I’ll take my notebook along with me (the paper version :D ) and see what I can do.

1k A Day Update

Hello everyone! Well I’m happy to report I did well for day one of my personal challenge. I managed to get 1900 words written and ran for 6km. I also got to hang with my family, which is always important. :)

Day two will prove a bit harder to squeeze everything in, but I’m going to push to get things done. Tonight we are taking the minions to see Captain America, so I’ll have to try and get my writing in before that. I’ll do my weight workout when I get home.

I’ll keep you posted.

August Challenge

I need a kick in my ass kicked. No, seriously. I’ve been pretty quiet for July (though my husband would argue that was a much needed rest), and am finding myself going a bit stir-crazy. So while I’ve promised the husband I would take the whole summer off, I think I’m going to set myself a small challenge instead.

Cause…you know. I’m nuts.

So my challenge is this. I’m going to attempt to write 1k a day for the month of August. This will help get me back into the crazy swing of things come September (I normally write a lot more than 1k a day) and yet, won’t kill me. I’m also going to throw in the added challenge of committing to exercising at least 20 mins a day. Yes, that does include taking my dogs for a walk, but every little bit, right? I’ll post my daily results on the old blog here and you guys can either join me in posting your own challenge results, or throw dirty socks at me if I don’t live up to mine.

If anyone is interested in participating, then comment in this post. If not, I hope you’ll help cheer me on. :)
