Power of Attraction

A woman whose destiny has been ordained from birth meets the man who has been prophesied for her–but there is more to him than meets the eye. With prophecies and legacies to fulfill, which way will she go: to a man who may be possibly her mate, or to a dark legacy that could take her life.

Thanks for being here, Taige. What or who inspired you to first start writing?

Writing has been in my blood and soul forever. For as long as I can remember I’ve always been an avid reader and a writer. When I was a child I used to make up my own stories and share them with my family and friends. As I got older I continued to write. When I went to college I started getting more information on actually writing professionally. I joined some writing organization and started to learn my craft.

If you could have supper with any of your characters, which one would you choose and where would you take them?

All of them otherwise they would be jealous. LOL.  And we would have a pot luck dinner. Everyone bring a dish. It would be so we can eat like family. Since that is what I think of them as.

If someone gave you a minion tomorrow, what would be the first task you’d ask them to complete?

Create a duplicate of me so I can write even more. LOL.

E-books vs print books? E-readers vs. paper? Can’t we all just get along? What’s your preference?

Both. There are some books I already started buying in print so I keep them that way. The same for books that I have in ebook. And there are some wonderful books in ebook that aren’t in print. And I think we all should get along. A quality story is a story no matter the format.

If you were a superhero, what would your name be and what super powers would you possess?

The ability to create stories that made peoples soul resonate. And I would be called Rhythm Maker.

What project are you working on next?

Power of Attraction, book 1 in my Blackstone Haven series releases today. Indigo Rain, book 1 in my Phoenix Intelligence Agency will be released on March 14, 2011.

I just submitted a few days ago Power of Instinct book 2 in the Blackstone Haven series. Started working on 3rd book in the Blackstone Haven series. And 2nd book in the Phoenix Intelligence Agency.  I’m working on some joint projects.  There are a few surprises I have in store for the series. I’m also self editing some books in my series that I have at various publishers. It is going to be a sizzling and busy year. LOL!

As a reader, what are some of the things that draw you to an author?

They would invoke all the emotions in me. From happiness to tears.  I love when a writer takes me to the high of happiness then the release of tears then back to that wonderful place of satisfaction of romance.

What favorite book of yours would you love to see be made into a movie? Why?

That is hard to choose.

In romance – Saving Grace by Julie Garwood

In Mystery – In Death series by JD Robb

In Paranormal -  Vampire Huntress series by LA Banks

How excited do you get when you find out a new book by your favorite author is coming out soon? What do you do?

I get hyped. Do a dance and am at door when store opens or on website refreshing obsessively. LOL!

Friday Funny

My daughter told me about this video after seeing it in her science class. Then the amazing JK Coi sent me the link yesterday. I don’t care how bad your week was, this will make you giggle.

Hilarious British Animal Voiceovers – BBC1

Nighttime….DAYTIME!!!!

*giggle snort* Happy Friday everyone.

Need Help? 1-800-DOM-help it is!

Well that New Year’s resolution to do more blog posts fell away pretty fast, eh? Life is never slow in the d’Abo household and well… you know how those things go.

But this week is very special, and I didn’t want to miss a chance to pimp some of the wonderful ladies of the 1-800-DOM-help series. This week has not one, not two, but THREE releases come out from our series.

Delight Me by Desiree Holt

Dani suspects her growing dissatisfaction with the lifestyle suggests she might be in need of a role reversal. When she finds a mysterious business card, she calls the number, 1-800-DOM-help, and is paired with Ethan, a sexy-as-sin sub. Dani learns the erotic effects of wielding the whip and the intense arousal that stimulating her sub with toys can bring.

As their sessions progress, Dani and Ethan explore every aspect of D/s play—from restraints to punishment to exercising control to achieve mind-blowing orgasms—and Dani comes to understand the value of receiving trust, as well as giving it. But her newfound, strong emotional feelings for Ethan scare her to death. Their current course could change her life forever—if she’s brave enough to accept what’s being offered.

Available January 26th

Controlling Interests by Francesca Hawley

Mozelle “Mouse” Vincent inherits money, a club and her boss’ son as a business partner when society leader Regine Stuart dies. Torin Stuart knows what his late mother’s wishes were for his exclusive BDSM club, Erotically Bound, but he’s pissed that he’s forced to trust Mouse—especially when her inherently submissive nature arouses the sexual Dominant in him.

After baring all in a heated, intense scene, Mouse realizes they still have to work together, but now Tor challenges any business suggestion she makes. When she wants to offer education classes, Tor dares her to organize the class and participate—as a submissive.

To his chagrin, Mouse agrees, but he can’t stand the thought of any other Dom touching her. Suddenly there’s far more at stake than the controlling interest in their club…because love is the ultimate prize in their power exchange.

Available January 28

Fettered Love by Michelle Polaris

Kirk, Master to his long-time lover Evan, decides it’s time to place his permanent collar around Evan’s sexy cock. But when he proposes, he faces a surprise. Evan wants a child. So where will they find a kinky woman to help?

A mysterious card with the 1-800-DOM-help number advertises assistance for unusual problems in the BDSM community. When Evan calls, he recognizes the voice of Sarah—Kirk’s best friend from childhood, Evan’s Mistress of several years in college. They both loved her and suffered betrayal when she walked out of their lives.

Now she proposes to be the mother of their child. No strings, just a chance to have the men she respects and loves back in her life. Evan embraces the idea while Kirk rages with mistrust.

At Evan’s request, they share one night of passion, Kirk and Sarah working together to dominate Evan in the scene of his erotic fantasies, hoping it will be enough to rekindle trust and make all their dreams come true.

Available January 28th.

These books are all amazing and I can’t recommend them enough. And don’t forget about Needing Harte and Commanding Acquisitions as well, the first two books in the series.

Goodreads Challenge

I love the Goodreads site. There are lots of chances to browse through what other people are reading, to see if there is anything that can catch my attention. I also love how I can keep track of the crazy amount of books I go through on a yearly basis.

This year, I noticed they have a Book Challenge. You can select your book goal and then you post/review the books you have read. Because I don’t have enough on my plate, I’ve decided to play along!

So for 2011, I’ve challenged myself to read 50 books. That may not seem like a lot, but combined with my day job, kids, husband and writing, I think it’s enough to keep me busy. :)

If you are interested in playing along, I encourage you to put in your own goal on Goodreads. It’s a free site and a fantastic community.

And if you want to see what I’m reading, you can check out my Goodreads page here.

Thursday Giggle

And some days you just need to laugh. :d This was sent to me by a co-worker. You may have seen it, but it’s still chuckle worthy.

Enjoy!

New Sale – Girls Who Bite Anthology

There is nothing better than to start the new year with a nice announcement. :D It’s now official! I’ve sold a short story to Cleis Press, to be included in their Girls Who Bite, Lesbian Vampire anthology! The anthology is being edited by the fantastic Delilah Devlin.

*does a snoopy dance*

I’m honored to be a part of this anthology with some amazing writers. Besides myself you’ll get to read some stories from:

  • Vivi Anna
  • Adele Dubois
  • Myla Jackson
  • Victoria Oldham
  • Delphine Dryden
  • Paisley Smith
  • Angela Caperton
  • Karis Walsh
  • Anna Meadows
  • Shayla Kersten
  • A.E. Grace
  • Regina Jameson
  • Rebecca Buck

Yeah, I’m totally stoked to read the rest of these stories!!

Funny fact. I’d seen the call for submissions on Delilah’s blog, but wasn’t planning on writing anything up. I don’t normally write vampires (had no problem with the lesbian part, funny enough), and wasn’t sure if I could do it. Well as fate should have it Delilah and I shared a taxi from the airport on the way to EC’s Romanticon conference. Next thing I know, I’m submitting Bound Lust. :)

My little contribution is about a vampire submissive and her Domme human partner. Good times.

The anthology is due to come out November 2011. As soon as I have more details, I’ll be sure to pass them along.

Goals – I Have Them

Whenever I sit down to do up my New Year’s resolutions, I always feel a bit silly. I’m normally a pretty goal oriented person to begin with, so doing up special goals for the whole year don’t always have the impact on me that they probably should. That said, the year I put down “I will get published” on my list I actually did. So I’ll keep doing it just to keep the positive vibes going.

So sit down and brace yourself, kind readers. Here are Christine’s Goals for 2011!

The Goal List

Blog More. Yeah, yeah, I know, blogging is sooooo 2010ish. I didn’t get a chance to do a lot of blogging last year due to health and laziness issues. I don’t want to necessarily focus on writing as much as I have (thought that will be a big chunk still), but throw in some more interested bits for you to read. Don’t have a CLUE what they are yet, but I’ll figure it out.

Get an Agent. Yeah, yeah, I know, getting an agent is soooooo 1990ish. I also know this is something out of my control to a certain extent. But what I’m more interested in doing from my own perspective is not rushing my submissions to agents. I’m taking a look at the material I’m writing and how I can make it more marketable to a larger readership. Those are the projects I need to start pitching to agents and only to agents who I’ve done enough research on. Starting with the book I’m editing right now. :D Be Forgiving. I like to think I’m a nice person, but I have a bit of a mean streak in me. Thankfully, most of the time this is directed at myself and not others. In 2011, I’m vowing to give myself a bit of a break. Not from accomplishing the goals I want, but when I don’t quite live up to my own expectations. This will be a hard goal for me to meet.

Write, write, write! Goes without saying, doesn’t it? But my writing goals for the year are as follows.

  • Finish the full length novel, No Master (EC)
  • Finish the full length novel, No Honor (EC)
  • Write two novellas (EC, other)
  • Finish the full length novel I’m writing with Delphine Dryden (lord knows where that will end up. :D )
  • Edit and submit urban fantasy novel (Carina, I hope…)

Promote. I suck at this. I need to do a better job at getting out there and getting my name known. This is the one aspect of publishing that I’ve always struggled with (mum raised me not to brag), and I know I need to do better.

Exercise. Yeah, yeah, I know, this is so…well, insert any year you want. One of the things I realized in 2010 was that I think better when I’m consistently exercising. So my vow is to do this not only for my physical health, but for my mental health as well. A less mental Christine means more writing accomplished. :D  Lord did I just write that…

Well I think that’s good enough for now. I like to keep busy and this will certainly do that for me. I hope you all meet any goals you set for yourself in 2011!
