This is a happy cover art week for me!! I’m so excited to unveil the cover for Commanding Acquisitions!

*drool*

And don’t forget our contest over at the 1-800-DOM-help blog. Check it out!

1-800-DOM-help Contest!

Who wants to win an awesome gift bag from the authors of the 1-800-DOM-help series??

It’s super-fantastic!

In celebration of the recent launch of our series, the 1-800-DOM-help gals are running a contest. We’re holding a scavenger hunt. I’ll list a group of questions, the answers to which can be found on our various author web locations. Pop over to the 1-800-DOM-help blog to get all the details on both the scavenger hunt and the prize.

And don’t forget!!

My book in the series, Commanding Acquisitions, will be coming out on November 10th.

Blurb

Simon is a Dom who has become jaded, tired of the local scene. With his bookstore failing and personal life nonexistent, he’s looking for something different. The arrival of the mysterious 1-800-DOM-help business card gives Simon a chance for a change. The Operator directs him to Unfettered, a hot new BDSM club where Simon hopes to find a distraction for the evening. What he gets is a sexy sub offering himself up for a night of no-holds-barred sex, who then disappears with the dawn.

When the business consultant Simon hires turns out to be his mysterious sub, he knows he’s found a chance at happiness. But happiness comes at a price.

Firm Touch – Cover!

I swear this is my favourite part of being a writer!

I am very excited to present you with the cover for my Merry Kinkmas story, Firm Touch!

Blurb:

Max has a secret. Max used to like to play on the wild side. Even though those days are now behind him, Max occasionally gets an itch for a particular fetish—one he would trust only Leo to scratch.

Leo would do anything for Max. One night after several rounds of tequila, Max confesses his desire to have Leo fist him. Though he is uncertain and concerned, Leo can’t get the thought out of his mind. He decides to give Max a Christmas present he won’t soon forget.

State of the Bedroom…err Union

Sunday is supposed to be a day for reflection. As I sit here on my bed, cup of coffee in hand, I’m trying to get my head around a lot of news I’ve received recently. Thankfully, most of it is good! I thought I’d share with you some of the things coming up in the Christineland.

In Print

I found out on Friday that not one, or two, but three of my Ellora’s Cave books will be coming out in print in 2011! For those of you collecting the paperbacks, both The Bond That Consumes Us and The Bond That Saves Us will be hitting the shelves. I’m also thrilled to have learned that Primal Elements will also be coming out in print! I’ll keep you posted on any other updates.

New Sales

I have a very exciting new sale that I am desperate to announce, but I can’t quite yet. I just received the contract and will be sending it in shortly (must give it a good read through first). Let’s just say I’m VERY excited with this one.

EDIT: Hell, I just read the contract and signed, so I’m going to announce it anyway! I’m thrilled to say that my short story, Bruised Ego, will be in the November 2011 Berkley anthology, Agony and Ecstacy. To say I’m still in shock is an understatement. I have to thank J.K Coi for encouraging (making) me write this story right before the deadline. Even better? Her story also got in!!!

Reviews

Thank you to everyone who has bought and read No Remedy! I have received a ton of emails on this book and many people are also going back to read No Quarter. I had this review from Carla at RomFan Reviews pop up in my Google Alerts. They gave No Remedy a five hunk rating! Thanks to them and please check out their other reviews.

I know I’ve said it before, but to everyone who has taken the time to either place a review on Goodreads, the Ellora’s Cave site, a blog or even sent me an email – THANK YOU! Your comments mean so much to me.

Coming Soon

I have two releases coming out in the next few weeks! Commanding Acquisitions is my first novella in the 1-800-DOM-help series from Ellora’s Cave. Writing this book was like a gift from my (smutty) muse. Simon and Gavin came to me complete (with a bow around their necks) and the story setup really flowed. I am really excited it will be out on November 10th and I hope to have the cover to share with you shortly.

In addition, I have a short story coming out as part of the EC Merry Kinkmas line. My story Firm Touch will be out on December 6th and has to deal with….

*drum roll*

M/M Fisting.

*and waits for the audience to breath again*

I know what you’re thinking, but it is a very thinking/smutty book. According to my beta readers, it’s pretty hot too LOL! I’ll have to wait to see what you all think about it.

In Progress

With all this going on, I’m not slowing down. I am currently working on No Master, which is book three in my space pirate series. This one is dealing with Korbin, the Admiral of the Black and Zain Strand, his second in command. I’m about a third of the way through I am hoping to have it finished by the end of December.

I’ll be working on a different book for NaNoWriMo. I’m still working out all the details, but the book will be three interconnected novellas. Should be a lot of fun. :)

I also have plans to do a second book for the 1-800-DOM-help series. More on that once I get it done. :)

Well, that’s me. As always, I’ll keep people posted of updates as they happen. I wish everyone a fantastic week!

Spirit Day

You’ve probably noticed I don’t do a lot in the way of controversial blog posts here. That’s not the type of person I am. I’m not about to get on a soapbox now either.

However…

Today is Spirit Day. It honors the teenagers who have taken their own lives in recent weeks because of anti-LGBT bullying. And while I’m not gay, I have family and friends who are. And I do have children. Bullying for ANY reason is wrong. I can’t imagine the extra pressure a LGBT teen goes through today.

We live in a screwed up society when violence isn’t blinked at, but love must still be fought for and justified.

Make sure you wear purple today to support LGBT teens and adults.

Do something about bullying in general in your communities.

Read here for more information on Spirit Day.

It’s that time again

That’s right, November is fast approaching. Let’s not stop and think about how quickly 2010 has gone and focus instead on the fact that it’s almost time for National Novel Writing Month!

Once again, I will be cracking my knuckles and getting to work on a new novel. This year I’ve decided to work on three interconnected novellas , focusing on three siblings. I almost have the plots worked out, but will tweak once I get writing.

As I’ve done in the past, I’ll be tracking my progress on the blog. This may send some of you screaming for a while, but for others you can commiserate with my challenges as I push through the month.

Not familiar with NaNoWriMo? Check out their site here.

Is anyone else going to be doing NaNo this year? I am on the site as Christine99. Please feel free to friend me. :)

Author Interview – Susan Helene Gottfried

I have had the pleasure of knowing Susan for a few years now. And while we have never met face-to-face, I still consider her a great friend. If you haven’t read  Shape Shifters: The Demo Tapes  then you need to check them out! Trevor=awesome!

Welcome to the blog Susan.

What or who inspired you to first start writing?

No idea. I often say my need to write is a birth defect. It’s the way I’m wired. According to my mother, I wouldn’t even start talking until I could speak in paragraphs.

If you could go back in time and lay claim to any book written, which one would you want and why?

Okay, don’t laugh. The Horse Whisperer. That or TC Boyle’s East is East. Both made me cry, they were so beautifully crafted. They also made me want to write such good stuff.

When you are writing and hit a stumbling block, what do you do to try and get over the hurdle?

I actually delete the last paragraph or two. I’ve learned that when I get stuck, it’s because I’ve gone off in the wrong direction. Fixing that and getting back on track solves all.

What was the strangest thing that ever inspired a scene/book? What was the end result?

Oh, man… I couldn’t even begin to guess. I’m inspired by practically anything — much of which you can see on the Meet and Greet at West of Mars — from buying chicken to tennis shoes. I think it just depends on how open to inspiration I am at any moment.

If you could have supper with any of your characters, which one would you choose and where would you take them?

Definitely Trevor because he’s so much fun. I think I’d take him to the O — the Original Hot Dog Shop to you non-Pittsburghers — because even though I don’t think they make meatball subs, they make mean fries and dogs. And besides, I took the late Layne Staley (of Alice in Chains) there for fries one night back in… what was it? ’90? ’91? It was when Alice toured with Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeth. Layne, my assistant at the time, and his bodyguard left the club we were hanging in and headed out for fries. I WARNED him not to order the large…

Oh, yeah. We were talking about taking someone out. Maybe I shouldn’t take Trev to the O. I clearly have some very good memories from there already.

Is there a type of story you would like to write, but are terrified you wouldn’t do a proper job? What is it and why?

Oh, pretty much any idea I get scares me. I write pretty light stuff, but I’d like to think there’s a more serious undertone going, as well. I guess I’d like to be able to write the heavier themes and do them proper justice. (Now watch, someone who’s read Trevor’s Song will say I handled the heavy stuff in there just fine.)

If you could sit down with one author from any time in history, who would it be? What questions would you want to ask them?

Ulp. No idea. None whatsoever. I think that’s partly because we have such great access to other writers these days via Facebook and Twitter.

If someone gave you a minion tomorrow, what would be the first task you’d ask them to complete?

Social networking for me! No, not Tweeting. Forums and the like. I’d love a screener, “Hey, Susan, here’s something you ought to see.” Or even, “Hey, I’m going to post your book reviews over at *this* site so they get a wider audience.”

Of course, I’d also love it if my assistant were to take some of the fiction from my blog — even though it’s available now in actual books — and put it up on Scribd for me. I’ve been meaning to get to doing that for awhile now, but I’m too swamped.

Can I have my minion do both? And if I shake it, will it glow like the one minion did in Despicable Me?

E-books vs print books? E-readers vs. paper? Can’t we all just get along? What’s your preference?

Right now, I still prefer print to e-, but that could be because I need an e-ink reader, not my iPod. Which I bought to use as an e-reader. I LOVE the idea of e-books and I fully support them. I give my own e-books away to deployed troops via Operation e-book Drop.

If you were a superhero, what would your name be and what super powers would you possess?

I’d be Super Susan, and my power would be to make all bow before me.

What project are you working on next?

I actually have a few in the works. Demo Tapes: Year 3 is the closest to completion. The Demo Tapes projects are anthologies of the fiction I’ve posted on my blog. Then I’m working on a follow-up to Trevor’s Song, and something brand new that I’m outlining. This will be the first time I’ve outlined a book. Should be interesting.

How can readers find out more about you?

http://westofmars.com — there you’ll find The Meet and Greet, my author’s blog that’s full of my fiction. You will also find Rocks ‘n Reads, my more traditional book blog, and Win a Book, my publicity blog for authors and bloggers.

I’m also on Twitter (@WestofMars) and Facebook. I have a personal page and a West of Mars fan page, which is SO under-loved, it’s not funny. Stop in and like me!

So there was this thing I said…

You know, I like to think I can be amusing at time. Yes, yes, that typically means I’m not. Let me live in my bubble. :D

However, during one of my sessions at Romanicon I was describing how I typically work out my plots and said something along the lines of, “…and then they have sex.” This created a bit of a giggle in the crowd and became a bit of a running joke for the rest of the weekend.

On the last day (I think, it’s all a blur) I said I wanted to get t-shirts made up with the saying on it. What a lark!

Well, I did.

If you happen to want one, I’ve created a Cafe Press store with the shirt. They are simply (honestly, I’m not expecting anyone to want them), but I can do better if there is any interest.

So there. I’ve done what I said I would. And that is that.

No Remedy – First Review!

Every author holds his/her breath when a new book comes out. Once our baby is out there for public consumption, there is always the fear that people won’t like it. So when those first few reviews come in, it really means a lot.

Yesterday, I was floored to receive not one, but two super reviews. The wonderful Teela at Romance Writers Reviews gave both No Quarter and No Remedy five start reviews.

No Quarter

This was the first time I have read Christine D’Abo and she has definitely captured my attention with her writing technique, with her  funny, witty and complex characters. I fell in love with the characters and how they lived their lives and came together. I recommend this to any who love great characters and a great plot come together and make an explosive book that you just can’t put down. P.s. I especially love the plot twist.

No Remedy

This sequel to No Quarter continues to show off Christine D’Abo’s wonderful writing skills bringing three people together in a time of desperate need for all of them. Even if they don’t know it. Yet. Just like No Quarter I could not put No Remedy down. I was taken in and it just would not release until the end…..nope still hasn’t released me. I really hope Christine writes more in this series. I guarantee you will not regret buying this book.

Thank you so much, Teela for the awesome review and putting a huge smile on my face.

You can buy both e-books at Ellora’s Cave.

Romanticon 2010 – Oh My…

You know, I like to have a good time.

Quiet JK and Amy. *shakes finger*

Romanticon 2010, hosted by Ellora’s Cave in Richmond Ohio…was the most amazing conference I have ever gone to. Just…wow. From first rate workshops (CSI for Writers, What TV gets wrong; Sex Toys for the Budget Minded; my own…) to great parties, there was something for everyone.

And the Cavemen. I thought I was above drooling, but yeah no. I’m so not.

I thought I’d share a few pictures with everyone just so you can see the fun for yourself!

The first night at the conference I got to meet so many people I’d been speaking to over email for years. Below I was hanging out with Delphine Dryden, Cara McKenna, Frances Stockton, and Samantha Wayland.

Very rarely do authors get to meet their cover artists. I was fortunate enough  to have the opportunity to spend time with Dar Albert, the cover artist who nailed No Quarter for me. Not only is she beautiful and talented, she’s one HELL of a dancer.

Did I mention the Cavemen?? They were always willing to give a girl an awesome photo op…

The 1920s themed party was so much fun. The chance to see everyone in costume was too good to pass up. Here I am with Cai Smith, one half of Marilu Mann.

This is me and Nikki Soarde. We live in the same town, but didn’t realize we were both going to be here! It’s always fun when Nikki and I get together.

There is nothing better than making new friends. Here I am with Delphine Dryden and my new buddy Shoshanna Evers! The three of us have a secret that I’ll be able to share with you all very soon.

One of the coolest things was to meet up with the other authors who are a part of the 1-800-DOM-help group! Here we all are. Oh and Commanding Acquisitions now has a release date. Keep your eyes open for in on November 10th, 2010.

I have posted a bunch more of the pictures over on my Facebook page. Please stop by and check it out! For now, I’ll leave you with this.
