The Weather…

…sucks! Why is it when I have something planned the nasty old weather monster must rear its ugly head? Today, temperatures are going to go from 8c down to -17c. And of course, it’s been raining all night. So all that lovely wet will turn into nasty ice. That is going to turn the two hour drive I was going to make, into at least a three hour drive.

*sigh*

At least I’ll be in the car with Amy…god help her LOL! :D

Speaking of Amy, her book Hard Candy is out today from Ellora’s Cave!! It’s tastey, sweet, HOT. :D

HARD CANDY by Amy Ruttan

A golden ticket to a hedonistic club, that’s the marketing idea Lenore Byrne offers her newest client Pallator Sinclair as a way to promote his Innocent Pleasures Candy Company. Candy that is for adults only. Landing this account will make her career and it doesn’t hurt that her client is damn sexy.

Pallator has been up and down Madison Avenue, but no one gets his vision for his company. That is, until he meets Lenore. He offers her the chance of a lifetime, a tour of the hedonistic club. It’s an offer she can’t refuse, but can she turn down his other offer? To completely let herself go with the sinful man she hardly knows.

You can rush out and buy it here!

The Watchmen

There have only been a few movies that I’ve wanted to see recently. Really, it’s been a bit of a slump for sci-fi (well, good sci-fi at least) over the past little while. But all that is going to change in March.

I will admit, I didn’t know a lot about The Watchmen, other than it was a graphic novel that all my male friends gushed over. All that changed when I A) saw the trailer and B) learned that Jeffery Dean Morgan was in it. (NOM Nom nom nom)

The special effects look amazing from the little I’ve seen. I know the story is going to be solid, as long as they didn’t mess around with the origninal plot too much. Seeing as its nearly three hours long, I’m thinking they didn’t. So lots of cool characters, interesting story, good effects, and it all boils down to me actually forking out $24 for tickets and $20 for a babysitter so hubby and I can go.

I can’t wait!!

The only other movie I’m really looking forward to this spring is the new Star Trek. *drool*

And just in case you HAVEN’T seen it…

Vacation Recovery and New Projects

I have to say, taking a vacation when you aren’t completely stressed out makes for a nice change. Instead of spending the week trying to recover, I was actually able to have fun and enjoy myself. With my mom up, I put my poor husband to work. We hung pictures on walls that have been bare for over a year, hung curtains (chocolate brown, and I’m going to pain the room a blue), and even put some shelves up. I think I’m all decorated out LOL!

With my house now in order (and mostly clean), I’m ready to start a new project. I tried to do some writing last night, but had a few false starts. After sleeping on it, I think I may have worked out what some of the basic plot issues were. I may leave it to mull over a bit more though, and continue working on the other book I started.

This weekend, I’m getting together with some friends for a writing weekend. I am super excited about the whole thing, and can’t wait to immerse myself in writing geekdom. :D Of course, there will be wine and chocolate…

How was everyone’s week?

Shopping and Spending and Vacations…Oh My!

I’m on vacation! This is a wonderful feeling for me, as I’m one of these high strung, bouncy, hyper people. When I go on vacation, it’s usually for stress relief, but not this time. My parents are up visiting, and we are having a wonderful time.

One of the things my mum and I do when we get together is home decorating. I’m usually so busy in my daily life, that I don’t have time to worry about things like pictures on the walls. But when she’s up, I tend to go out and have fun buying things for my house. Today we are going drape shopping. Who knew I would get excited about drapes!

I’m also taking a short break from my writing while they are here. Next week I’m going to be diving head first into a new project, so  I think I’ve earned a small reprieve. It’s giving me a chance to mull things over in my head. :D

How is everyone else making out? I hope you are all well. :D

The Bond That Ties Us – Now In Print

It’s out! It’s out!!!

My very first print book is available today from Ellora’s Cave. The Bond That Ties Us introduces us to the Eurus colony, and the ongoing war between the Briel and Ecada. When Haylie and Kamran meet, it’s a  bit more than love at first sight. The physical bond between them is so powerful, neither are able to resist them.

When I first wrote this story, I had no idea the impact it would have on me as a person, or the fact it would launch my writing career. I started it with the intent of writing a book that I would enjoy reading. I’m so thankful other people have also enjoyed it.

You can buy it directly from Ellora’s Cave Here!

Love Is In The Air

Yeah!! It’s happy, squishy, gooey, love day!!! Well, tomorrow is at least. :D I’m a firm believer (as I think a lot of people are) that you should show your family and friends how much you love them year round, and not make such a big deal about Valentine’s Day. I mean, it’s a fantastic excuse for chocolate and stuff, but very commercial.

One of the things I do love doing, it buying my girls Valentine’s Day treats. It was always fun for me to get some chocolates from my parents. Mind you, Valentine’s Day is also my younger sister’s birthday. They didn’t want me to feel left out…

Speaking of which, my baby sister turns thirty-two tomorrow. This sounds very, very odd to me…because she’s my baby sister. And if she’s turning thirty-two, that means I’m  turning thirty-five this summer and that’s just WRONG!

*sob*

Tomorrow is also our RWA chapter meeting. I’m excited to be going and to have a chance to see everyone. There will be lots of hugs to go around (you’ve all been warned!). And when I get home, I have a nice  evening planned with my husband.

It makes me all squishy inside!

The Bond That Ties Us – In Print Monday

OMG!! I just got the email that The Bond That Ties Us will be available in print MONDAY!!! If you could see the look of glee on my face right now, you’d be laughing your heads off.

This is my first print book, and the fact that it is the very first book I’ve had published makes it extra special for me.

*does a snoopy dance of JOY*

New Head Space

There is always something going on in my life. It’s usually slightly insane, but more often than not fun. Sometimes, though, something will happen that will make me want to pull my hair out. I’m not going to air all my frustrations with you here, but needless to say it’s been having  major impact on me.

In order to try and work out my frustrations in a healthy way, I’ve started a new writing project. I’m not going to talk too much about it because to be honest, I’m not sure if I’ll finish it at this point. But it’s angsty, which is exactly what I need to get out of my system these days. That is one thing that I love as a writer…the fact I can take all of the emotional turmoil I’m feeling and get it out onto paper. The situations I create aren’t real, but the feelings behind them are.

On another note, did you all see the 2009 sexiest men list this year?? The wonderful ladies over at The Good, The Bad, and the Unread were kind enough to post the list. With Richard Armitage leading the pack, I was very pleased to see some of my favourite men here this year (Hugh Jackman, David Tennant, and Gerard Buttler anyone??). There is a bit of a naughty picture at the end of that post, so be careful where you open the link. ;)

Somedays I hate technology

For those of you who are regular readers of my blog, I’m sure you noticed the “glitch” this weekend of my site being down. I’m the first to admit, I’m not the most informed person when it comes to all things techie. Give me something about wireless technology, I’m your girl…websites…not so much.

I paid to have my domain name renewed over a month ago. I was being proactive (no laughing Amy), and thought it was all taken care of. Apparently not. *sigh* Needless to say, I’m back up and running, and shouldn’t have any further issues for a while.

This weekend (when I wasn’t freaking out about my site) I managed to finish The Bond That Saves Us! Yes, Sean’s story is done and with my wonderful critique partners right now. That means it will be off to my editor next week and with any luck bought soon. I’ll keep you all posted.

My next struggle, is to figure out what story to work on next. I have two that I want to get cleaned up and sent out to a few places. On top of that, I got a new idea the other day for a completely different type of story. I think I may work on that one just to see what comes of it.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

How Do You Make A Fangirl Squee?!?

You give her a trailer for the next season of her favourite show!

They are killing me by not letting us know when this is going to air. *sigh* I need more Torchwood!

At least I’ll have Supernatural and Dollhouse to keep me busy until this is shown. :D
