Sorry State of Sci-Fi on TV

Hello everyone!! Sorry I disappeared there last week. My parents came to town and I’ve been having a fantastic time with them. This weekend I went out and bought the entire seven seasons of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. They were on sale and I couldn’t resist. Of course this has gotten me thinking about the sorry state of Sci-Fi on TV these days.

Battlestar Galatica is in its last season, they cancelled Moonlight, the Bionic Woman and Sarah Connor Chronicles were disappointing, and I can’t even think of another new sci-fi show on TV these days.

What happened??

Doctor Who only has a few episodes left this series and then I’ve got nothing to keep me going for months. I don’t even know when Torchwood is coming back, but I imagine its January 09 at least. And Stargate: Atlantis won’t be back until September.

*dramatic sigh*

This is why I write people…I need something to fill the gap in my life. Anyone out there that can recommend a good show, please let me know. If not, I’m going to be going back to rewatch Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Stargate: SG1 on DVD.

I don’t watch much Sci-fi but I have to agree with you about the why I write mantra. There isn’t much good on TV these days!

I hope you had a nice time with your parents. I’m visiting mine this weekend. :)

Oh Morjana, thank you for letting me know!! I’ll have to check to see when we’ll get it here in Canada, because I really need some new TV.

Karen, I’ve always watched Sci-Fi and I really can’t get enough of it. I just wish the TV execs would give the shows more of a chance before they yank them off the air.

Hey Christine - good to hear about your reviews for your newest release! Woo! As for TV, I barely watch it. I have much better luck watching entire seasons like you’ve just done with ‘Buffy’ (haven’t seen that one at all.) What I’m currently into - okay, obsessed by - is the BBC ‘Robin Hood’ series. I have just three words for you: Guy of Gisborne.

I was talking about that with my husband, that Saturday’s Who was #7/13. We have fewer remaining than we’ve already seen! But I’ll be rewatching this season, to be sure. Aside from the horrible SuperNanny opener, this season has been really, really good. I don’t normally go for slapstick, but the Agatha Christie one cracked me up. And I’ll be shocked if we don’t see the Doctor’s Genny back in future episodes…

I don’t know, I’m at a loss for good Sci Fi as well. I’ve been rewatching Voyager from start to finish and dang nabbit I actually missed a few episodes first time around watching so for me, I’m discovering some new stuff.

But yeah, it’s pretty parched. Of course I still have Dr. Who season 4 to watch, Battlestar Galatica in it’s whole, Star Gates and Buffy so I have so good TV looming on my horizon it’s the whole time thing for me. With small kids I have to be careful when I watch them.

Do you know… I NEVER seen Buffy?!!
I know, shoot me. Maybe I’ll borrow your DVD’s when you’re done ;)

Julia, I’ve heard really good things about Robin Hood. I’m going to have to check it out. Guy is a yummy character.

Carrie, we better see her again after that ending! I’m really loving season 4 and I can’t wait until the last three episodes. I want Jack back!

Amy and Wyile, we’ll work out a lending system for the two of you. Trust me, once you get into it, you’ll want to watch them all! LOL!
