Super Friday!

This is a fantastic Friday! Why? Because it sees the release of two super fantasic books from two super fantastic EC authors.

Lillian Feisty’s I Love Lacy is out! This is the fourth and final book from our Purple Explosion contest, and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on it. Lillian is an amazing writer, and this sounds awesome!

Today also sees the release of Deep Cover, the very hot and sexy futuristic novel from my Naughty sister Anna J Evans! I’ve been reading excerpts of this book for a while now, and I’m drooling. I’ll be getting them both as soon as I can tonight.

This weekend I plan on working on my books and getting some marketing done. I’ve been on fire this week for word count…though not on my paranormal. Amy and I have been on fire with our story, and I’m going to finish up my chapter and get it back to her tonight. The rest of the weekend I’m devoting to the paranormal, not wanting to lose the momentum that I’ve gained. I might actually finish it in the next month if I can keep this pace up.

Other than that, I don’t really have any other plans. Relax, write, and maybe drink some wine…

What are you up to??

Giggle Bounce

It’s Thursday!! I saw Torchwood last night and (of course) it rocked. I can’t wait for next week because they are showing two episodes back to back. *drool*

Thank you to everyone for the kind words on Wizard’s Thief! And an extra thank you to everyone who bought it. I can’t express just how much I appreciate your support.

Where does this leave me now? Well, my next release is The Bond That Heals Us on May 7th. In between now and then I’ll continue to work on my book with Amy, my book with Red, and the urban paranormal I’m writing. Then I’ll shift gears and start my Dark Pantheon story for the Deliciously Naughty Writers series. I have a great idea for this one, but need to clear these other projects off my plate before I start it.

Today I’m buzzing for some reason…could be the left over coffee coursing through my veins…

How is everyone doing today?

Release Day – Wizard’s Thief!!!

First I want to start off by thanking everyone for sending me your hugs and positive energy yesterday. Something made it to me because the major issue I was dealing with in my day job was worked out…for the most part. I’m planning on finishing the clean up today.

Second, I’m taking a small half step away from my urban paranormal and have started working on a project with Amy :D . I think the stress at work was getting to me, and I needed something fun and exciting to get me pumped up again. Well I wrote all evening and about 4000 words later I’m back into my old form. The character are a blast to write and I can’t wait to see what Amy comes up with for chapter two. :D

Finally, and probably the most exciting of my news is the fact that Wizard’s Thief releasess today!!!! I don’t know what it was, but this one seemed to take forever to come out. Maybe because I enjoyed the characters so much, I’m excited to share them with everyone. If you do buy it, I’d love to know what you thought. This is my first fantasy story, and if people like it I might do more in that area.

Last Week of the Purple Invasion!

That’s right everyone, this is the final week of our Purple Explosion contest! All four jewels are up, hidden of the websites of myself, Lillian Feisty, Red Garnier, and R.G. Alexander!

And this week is doubly exciting because it sees the release of BOTH Wizard’s Thief (Wednesday) and Lillian’s fantastic book I Love Lacy (Friday)!

And if you haven’t picked up Red’s Amatista or R.G.’s Who Wants To Date A Superhero you are missing out on some hot, sexy reading.

*Cue the Western Music*

A harsh breeze blows a tumbleweed rolling down a snow-packed street. The soft clicking of metal on metal steps to the beat as heavy footfall walk toward the awaiting couch. The author, tired, bleeding, approaches with cautious respect. Pulling the brim of her hat down, she leans slightly forward, glaring at the laptop before her.

“You haven’t beaten me yet…”

Okay that was just silly…but that’s how I feel. I didn’t reach my 5000 word goal this week, but I did come in with a respectable 3,367 on my paranormal, putting the total at 35,387 words. On top of that, I got all caught up on my secretary duties, and have almost finished critiquing a 300 page manuscript (almost done Lilli!).

This week, I’m going to really focus on my writing. The key for me is consistency, so I’m setting my word count goal at 5000, but having a secondary goal of making sure I write everyday.

And this is officially the last week of my kick in the pants challenge, so I’m going to try extra hard to make it.

This week also sees the release of Wizard’s Thief!!! So mark Wednesday on your calendars everyone! This is a slightly darker story than I normally write (but not by much), with a hero and heroine who have a lot of scars they must overcome to be able to make their relationship work.

Today I’ll be chatting over at the Ellora’s Cave group from about 12-4 EST (NOTE: Woopse put the wrong time down!) with the Deliciously Naughty Writers! Please stop by for some hot, sexy excerpts and a lot of laughs. :D

How is everyone else making out with their writing??

Fanfiction

So recently I discovered the wonderful world of fanfiction. I know, I know– Christine fanfiction is as old as the hills! Well honestly, I’ve never been inclined to go looking for it before. I’ve always enjoyed my TV shows, and hungry for the next episode. But with the writer’s strike this year, I’ve been seriously missing my favourite TV.

So I’ve been reading…

Yes, mostly Torchwood and Doctor Who fanfiction…

I start counciling next week…

I have noticed some interesting things around this unique world. It’s wonderful to see the types of things the average viewer craves from their TV shows. How they wished the relationships between the character evolved (because most of the stuff out there is around character relationships), how they try to fill in the blanks between the looks the characters give each other.

It also is interesting to see what character traits viewers pick up on with the characters, the mannerisms that they focus on. As I read the stories, it also demonstraits the importance of getting the characters right. Sometimes the fanfic authors are brilliant. They could work on the show they know the characters so well. And other times…

This also got me wondering about if people do that with their favourite books. I can’t honestly say I’ve ever read a series and had the urge to write the next chapter. I’ve wanted the author to do that!  But maybe I’m the odd duck out there.

So have you ever read fanfiction? What do you think about it?

Thursday Fun!

I have the most wonderful friends in the whole world!! This has been a really crazy time for me in my day job life, making it next to impossible for me to do anything except work and maybe get a bit of writing done.

But the super fantastic Lillian Feisty and R.G. Alexander have put up some fun things about me today! Please check out Lillian’s site to see if you can guess which facts about me are true and which aren’t.

And then hop over to R.G’s site who was sweet enough to post thirteen reasons why I rock! I have to say I’m blushing like crazy at the moment. I love you ladies!!

Solitary Job

I was on a roll last night with my writing. The funny thing was it was midnight and I wasn’t even tired. I had to force myself to go to bed. As I made my way upstairs, I realized that the reason I was doing so well was because everyone else was asleep.

I don’t seem to be able to find my writing groove unless I’m alone. Or doing a writing challenge with Amy, Susan, or whoever else happens to be around.

I’ve never considered myself a solitary person, but I’m starting to think that maybe my personality is changing slightly because of my writing. I like having that head time to pull the ideas out and concentrate on my little land of make believe.

Any other writers out there feel the same? What about readers? Do you need that alone time with your books?

Ass In Chair

I’m a procrastinator by nature. Some of you may find this shocking (except Amy…she knows how bad I am) when you hear about some of the things that I’m working on, but it’s true. Yesterday was a holiday here on Ontario and I actually took advantage of it and got some writing done. I manged to finish a chapter that had been giving me grief, and started the next one.Now before I did this, I naturally tried to find every excuse out there to do something different. Here’s what I managed to accomplish:

  • watched The Game Plan with the girls
  • did the laundry
  • cleaned (a bit)
  • made lunch
  • played on YouTube
  • read some fanfiction

Finally I put my butt in my chair and wrote. I need to just do that first next time LOL!

Just a reminder that I’ll be a part of the Purple Explosion chat today on the EC message boards. Please stop by and have some fun with R.G Alexander, Lillian Feisty, Red Garnier and myself!
