Milestone Update??
I can’t believe the week is over half gone. I frigging blinked again LOL! Sooooo….how is everyone making out with the Kick In The Pants Challenge so far this week? I’ve actually met my 5000 word goal somehow, so I’m adding another 5k. I’m hoping I can make it!
How are you making out??

Um I decided to enter a contest at the last minute and have written 4500 words for the entry. So hey at least I made some great progress! Just not on the project I was originally focusing on.
Oh well…

Thanks so much, Christine. Your challenge has got me flying through the words.

LOL Susan. That Trevor is a naughty boy…I love him!
Hey Karen, goals shift. At least you are making progress. That is awesome and good luck with the contest. Tell us how you make out.
Yeah Shelley! The more of your stuff I have to read the better. Go go go!

Half way there. I set a high goal. *Shakes head* but I’m going to force myself to do it. I want to be at 20k by Sunday.

I’ve been interviewing my characters and plotting out scenes through an exercise I found at Danika’s blog (she’s a poet) - The Accidental Novelist. This kind of thing doesn’t come naturally to me so I’m pleased with what’s come of it.

I forgot about this.

Hi Christine! I’m a reader
So my goal is to read more and less time online
So here I am reading your blogs, smile. My goal too includes posting and chatting about what I read so I plan to post my reads this month soon, time flew!
Congrats to you and others on your writing goals. Know that from me as a reader it is soooooooooo appreciated and all you do.

We’re still doing this? LOL!!! If that tells you how much I’ve done, then there you go.
Just kidding. Sort of.
I’m still editing round 1 - it’s taking me forever… and it seems I’ve had ONLY 9 pages to go since the beginning of the week! I keep adding to the story and it’s just getting longer… but I still hope to be done by Sunday.
Awesome work everyone! Christine obviously taking a lunch break really helps huh? :d WOOO HOOO on your word count!

Amy after the day I’ve had we may need another writing session tonight LOL!
Julia, that’s an awesome idea. I’ve often wanted to try that, but always seem to go back in to the world of character plotting. I may have to try again.
Tempest girl you can do it! Go go go!
Welcome Cathie! I love to hear from readers. Trust me what you folks think is what keeps us writing. You can be our official cheerleader!
Vicky sometimes you have to walk away from the whole editing thing. That said, I always add a ton when I’m editing. It’s all forward progress.

I’m on for writing!!

OMG it’s that time already? Let’s see, Monday I spent doing grocery shopping and making sure the boys were set to look after themselves, driving up to that out-of-town city to stay at a hotel room for my course the next day, and doing research *wink wink* in that huge jacuzzi in the hotel room. 0 words. It was a worthy sacrifice.
Tuesday I spent the entire day at the university in an absolutely useless course on Publishing - I can’t believe the information they imparted - like “why do you need to write a synopsis, I’ve never seen a publisher ask for one” and “you don’t need to worry about formatting a manuscript in any particular way, just send it in and if it’s good they’ll read it” and “if you’re writing a historical you can get their attention by sending it in on sepia paper with a special font.” No, I’m NOT joking! 0 words.
Wednesday I managed to write 1,000 words and was in the middle of a good scene when that got interrupted by family matters. Today I spent all day up at the hospital again trying to convince my mother who is STILL in denial that no, she can’t bring Dad home from the hospital and care for him herself - thankfully I had help from a mental health nurse, and the geriatric psychiatrist who told her also that Dad’s stroke made it dangerous for her to bring him home. I know I’ll be going through this all again in probably 3 weeks, but there’s another crisis temporarily averted, but now I have to transcribe the tape I made of the meeting, and spend probably close to two hours on the phone with my sister relaying everything that happened. So that means 0 words for today too. Looks like my goal isn’t getting too far. I have hope for tomorrow. I’m desperate to get back to my writing and stop life from intruding.

Half-way point for the week already — hard to believe. Well, for me, over the half-way point since I’m checking in late! I’m on track this week, so far — roughly half-way finished with my planned revisions for this week.

Wow, you ladies, kick some butt. I have got to try one of these word limit deadline things and see how I fare–probably not too good.
Good luck to all of you on meeting your goals!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Christine for this challenge. I really needed it this month.
My goal this week was 10-12K. I made 13,220! WOOOO hooooo.
Next week: Since I’m not shooting for a specific word count now, I’ll just say another 12K for next week and see if I’m close to the finish line.
No real obstacles this week so if I don’t make it I need a kick in the pants!
