As I mentioned, I was at a conference on Monday and Tuesday this week. It was great to be able to spend time with other people in my field and learn more about training, leadership, and how to apply it to the real world. I was very fortunate to hear a speaker from NASA’s learning academy talk about how they use stories as a method of sharing learning. It’s an absolutely brilliant way for people to come together and share their experiences, both good and bad, and help others grow, not only professionally but as people. My hat is off to everyone who participates in the program – it’s an amazing thing to have been told about.
It made me realize just how much power storytelling has. Not only can stories teach us, but they can be used to help us explore a part of our being that we may be neglecting. Stories stick with us for years long after other experiences fade into the background. It also takes a piece of the storyteller and embeds that person into our souls.
Sorry…got a bit philosophical there.
On a totally unrelated note, I now have the release date for Wizard’s Thief! It will be coming out from Ellora’s Cave on February 27th, 2008 as part of the Jewel of the Nile series. I can’t wait to be a part of this series.

Now finally on to Thursday Thirteen!! Since I’ve been so busy with NaNo for the past month, I thought I’d share with you thirteen things I’m going to do now that I’ve recovered my life.
1. Sleep in. Oh yes, this is so sweet.
2. Diet. I’ve been eating a lot of crap during NaNo. I start Weight Watchers next week.
3. Watch TV. I’m getting caught up on Dexter and a few other shows I’ve put off.
4. Play Uno with my girls. We have so much fun with this.
5. Have sex…err…spend time with my husband.
6. Read. I’m so far behind, but right now I’m reading an ARC of Colleen Gleason’s The Bleeding Dusk. OMG This totally ROCKS!!
7. Enjoy my evening baths again. Enough said.
8. Yoga. I’ve gotten away from this over the past little while. I’m going to start up again.
9. Sit by the fireplace and chill. I need to relax more in life. This is a great way to start.
10. Blog and check up on blogs. I’m so far behind. Please forgive me everyone!
11. Talk to my family. I think they missed me.
12. Christmas shop. I’m so scared – I haven’t started yet!!
13. Recharge my batteries. I’m going to take it easy in the month of December. Then you all better look out in January!!
Good luck with Weight Watchers and happy TT.
Hi Christine!!! It’s good to see you again and you sure sound busy. I bet you really exercised your writing muscles though in November.
You might enjoy my TT list today…it’s about Nature versus Nurture.
Your fireplace sounds heavenly…it has snowed for two days here in Chicago…I’ve stayed in pj’s except for when we had to go and get groceries, I put cords over my pj’s.
Cheers
Candy
Sounds great…especially the sex and sleep part…in that order;) Happy TT.
Sounds like you need it. But, it also sounds like a great conference. I need to go to more of those. Congrats on the release date, too. And, don’t sweat the Christmas shopping. Mine’s mostly done, but I still have to mail everything – something I keep forgetting to do!
I hope you enjoy every bit of all of it… great TT!
Ooh, sleeping in. Only thing better is sleeping on. LOL.
Great list, and glad you enjoyed the workshops and conference.
My TT is at http://midnightmooncafe.blogspot.com
Sleeping in, when everyone else is up an dworking! What a decadent joy!
You’ve been a very busy lady, Christine. Congrats on your new release date! I do hope you get a chance to do all the things on your TT list.
*LOL* This is not the season to diet, with all those temptingly delicious Christmas food around.
Sounds like you have a great month planned. Enjoy yourself in front of that fire.
Great Thursday post! Come take a sip of my blog up before someone else drinks it all!
I’m still trying to FINISH the NaNo novel. Sigh. It’s slow going. These all sound wonderful!
Congrats on the release day sweetie!! I’m so glad you’re back!
Yay on the release date for Wizard’s Thief!! I’ll put it on the website.
And good luck with WW! I thought about joining this week but decided to wait until after the holidays. I know myself enough to know I’ll not stick to it until then.
If you’re looking for input on prioritizing those goals, I’ll vote for #5.
Congrats on the release date!!! Woo hoo!!
And I’m jealous about that ARC! I can’t wait to read Colleen’s new book!!!!
As for the rest, yes, you deserve to sit and pamper yourself finally. You’ve had a TON going on lately; take some time for yourself. You might be surprised to see how nicely you’ve changed!
Yes, adding my congrats on your release date! And “spending time” with the husband will help recharge your writing imagination
What a great list! I am particularly envious of the bath one…..I only have a shower right now.
Happy TT and enjoy Uno and the fire!
You’ve been very busy, Christine. I hope you find time to do everything on your list.
Having a release date makes it feel so much more official, doesn’t it? Congrats!
Enjoy time to yourself–you’ve earned it after slaving away on NaNo. Good work!
‘Talk to my family. I think they missed me.’
Of course they did! But they’re strong, Christine – they pulled through for your NaNo.
I hope you can get all caught up on what you want now that you’re done with the NaNo stuff!
My Thursday Thirteen is up too!
Congrats on the release date. And enjoy your month of relaxation, you earned it! I’m jealous of the evening baths (my bathtub is too dinky to really relax in). Have a great weekend.
Heh. Take it easy and chill. I know all about how the NaNo exhaustion sets in.
I’m amazed I made it myself
