NaNo – Day 10

I got my house yesterday! Which means I did nothing for writing. Not a word. Barely opened my computer. *sigh*

But I have my house, and my cat. Now I just need all my stuff to arrive this morning. In fact, we’re heading over there shortly to let the movers in.

I got up at 5:30 this morning, not because I’m crazy, but because I couldn’t sleep. I managed to write 1100 words. I’m really happy about that, especially after the zero day I had yesterday. I doubt I’ll get anymore written today, but you never know.

I should be getting Internet connection later this afternoon, so I’ll let you know how we’re making out. :D

HUGS!

NaNo – Day 9

I have today off work, but I doubt I’ll get to use much of it for writing. Today we get our new house! Chances are we won’t have the keys until this afternoon, and the previous owners have until supper time to get out, but it will be ours.

Yesterday, I managed to get over 3000 words written brining me to 21,508 words so far. I haven’t had a chance to do any writing yet, but I will as soon as I’m done this blog post.

Which brings me to another point…I’ve been a bad blogging friend the past few weeks. I haven’t been getting around as much as I normally do. Seriously, once I get moved in and settled, that will be changing. So don’t give up on me yet!!

I’ll keep you posted this weekend as to how our move is going and if I’ve manged to sneak in some writing. Cause you know I love you all!

I hope you’ll all be able to stop by!!

NaNo – Day 7

Oh dear. I didn’t get out of bed this morning to write. I haven’t been feeling well and thought the rest would do me better than the 1600 words I’d manage. I’ve cleared my calendar tonight and will try and get the writing done then. I hope.

NaNo is an interesting project in self control. The mind games I find I’m playing with myself is crazy. I’m lying in bed at 5:00 am and spend the next fifteen minutes convincing myself of why I need to get out of bed. But until this morning, I’ve managed to do it.

Writing consistently has worked wonders for my development as a writer. I find the quality of my first drafts is improving with each manuscript. The stories are coming to me more formed, and my characters “talk” to me better. If I plug away at the manuscript daily, I stay in that zone longer and I make improvements.

Or else I’m going crazy, which is also possible.

Tomorrow is a big, super, duper event with prizes and contests and fun. Make sure you check back to find out all about it!

NaNo – Day 6

The only thing that got me out of bed this morning was knowing that Kelly was probably already up and had written 2000 words. I’m glad I did because I managed to write 1500 words, and could have kept going but I had to get ready for work.

I’m now into a section that is heavy in the external plot, which I’m never sure works until I get someone else to read it. This of course won’t happen until NaNo is done, but that internal editor of mine has been trying to get in the way and slow me down.

I’m going to try and do some writing once I get home tonight, because I doubt I’ll even get a lunch today, let alone get any writing done. We’ll have to see.

Watched Heroes last night, and have to say I think that was the best episode of the season. We finally started to get into some major action and I can see the seperate lines starting to come together. Next weeks show looks just as good and will hopefully give us some answers to what happened at the end of last season. Tonight House is on!

I hope the rest of you NaNo participants are doing well. And thanks to everyone who gave me some suggestions on what books I should read next.

I’m also posting over at Six Degrees of Sexy this morning. I’m talking about the insanity of NaNo! :D

NaNo – Day 5

I have to say that 5:30 am came very quickly for me this morning. I’m getting a bit of a cold and I really wanted to do nothing but stay in bed and sleep in. That said, I dragged my sorry butt over to my computer and managed to peck out another 1,600 words this morning. I’m going to try to get a bit more done at lunch today and then another hour tonight before Heroes is on.

This week, Friday specifically, I get my new house! I can’t wait to finally have all my things back, get my cat back, and generally get our lives back into our normal patterns again. It’s funny how much having a routine is important to keeping me sane. :D

What do you have planned for the week? Read any good books recently??

NaNo – Day 4

I wrote up a storm yesterday…today, not so much. I cleared a daily word count of just over 4k, to end my three day NaNo count at 10,923. So far today, I’ve only been able to get around 500 words. I’m not upset, but I need to try and make the 1600 daily word goal.

My problem at the moment is the pain in my forearm. I have a pinched nerve that doesn’t seem to be getting any better and all this crazy writing for NaNo has caused it to flare up. I’m only going to write for a bit more this afternoon and then I’m going to go ice it.

The good news is The Bond That Consumes Us is sitting at a total word count of 18,218 words. This is a very nice chunk of my planned 70,000 words. Taber is such a bad boy…

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I also wanted to let you know that the Six Degrees of Sexy sisters are going to be participating in a major scavenger hunt in the coming weeks. Lots of fun and prizes for everyone, so stay tuned for more information!

NaNo – Day 3

I think it’s nice out today. I’m not really sure because I’ve been inside the whole day so far. And I’ve been writing.

I’ve actually met my daily goal for NaNo already, currently sitting at 1,726 words for the day, bringing my three day total up to 8,611 words. I’m not going to stop though becauseĀ I need to get a bit ahead of the curve. I get posession of my house on Friday and will have most of next weekend taken up with everything involved with getting things set up. That means, most likely, I won’t be able to do much in the way of writing. So my goal for today was to hit around 4k word count. We’ll see if my wrists can hold out. LOL!

I have to say, I’m totally in love with my story right now. The Bond That Consumes Us is sitting at a grand total of 15, 425 word and I’m on chapter four. Taber’s character is shaping up nicely and his heroine Fallon is still trying to figure out what to do with him. They’re about to have a big moment, and I’m hoping to get through that scene today.

Right after I make lunch for my kids. :D

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Saturday so far.

HUGS!

NaNoWriMo – Day 2

Well I had another early morning, and so far so good. I managed to get 1,720 words written since I got up at 5:30am, which is actually my NaNo goal for the day. On top of the 3,672 words I managed yesterday, I’m sitting at 5,392 words written so far for NaNo.

Needless to say I’m thrilled.

Taber’s story is coming along very well. It’s funny, I feel like I’m just getting to know him even though he’s been around for a few years now. I like writing the chapters that are in his head, because there is an awful lot going on in there LOL!

So far the only problem I’ve had getting up before work to write, is the love scene I had to do this morning. Now I have to spend the rest of today thinking about what it is I wrote this morning…going to drive me nuts! :D

I know I don’t typically post on the weekends, but I’m going to at least pop on to give you all an update on how I’m doing. Trust me, you’re all keeping me honest.

This weekend we aren’t going to do too much, so I plan on writing. It will be a great to see how much I can get through.

What are your plans?

As most of you know, Sweet and Spicy Spells released yesterday from Ellora’s Cave. I thought I’d take this Thursday Thirteen to do a little self promotion. Here are thirteen reasons to read Sweet and Spicy Spells.

1. Halloween. Okay so it’s the day after Halloween, but it’s close enough. Spells takes place on Halloween and you get to see all the fun and trouble our couples get into.

2. Zack He’s my hero and I just looooves him. Zack is the oldest of the Kane brothers and is recently back from an under cover mission. He’s tall, dark, and can cast some very naughty spells when he wants to.

3. Priscilla. My heroine! Prissy as Zack calls her, is a high spirited woman who is used to getting her own way. And she’s the champ of the Cauldron Cup, a competition of all the wizards and witches in the area. She’s not going to let a little thing like her lust for Zack stand in her way of winning…again.

4. Foster. Foster is my co-author Renee’s hero. He’s the youngest of the Kane boys and has a boyish charm and a taste for sweets. But don’t let his smile fool you, Foster is as much a man as his older, more arrogant brother.

5. Kisha. Renee’s heroine. Kisha can’t seem to cast a single spell right. While she means well, if she can’t master her spell casting abilities before Halloween, she may loose her powers for good.

6. Sex. Okay, this is an Ellora’s Cave book. It’s hot…and spicy. When the spells fly, so does the clothing and our couples have lots of fun. :D

7. Mystery. Heaven forbid I just write a straight romance book. Renee and I have worked in a bit of a mystery for you to solve in between the juicy bits. I hope you notice. :D

8. Witches and Warlocks. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for magic. And there is something fun about seeing what can happen when it comes to magic users.

9. It was fun to write! I know I’ve said this a few times on my blog, but I had so much fun writing this with Renee. We chatted about the plot over many cups of coffee at Starbucks. We got quite a few interesting looks when we were talking about about the sex scenes.

10. You can read an excerpt of the book here!

11. This is my second Ellora’s Cave release. It was also the first time I’ve written to a theme that someone else set out. That was a good challenge for me as a writer and I think it works.

12. Because you love me. Okay, maybe not, but I’m stretching here. :D

13. The butt on our cover. Enough said.
