Best Laid Plans

Today being a holiday here in Canada, I was planning on writing up a storm. My goal is to get my novella finished so I can start planning out my next story for NaNoWriMo. I only have about 8000 words to go in this novella, and if I have a solid day of writing, I could get most of that done.

Of course, life never quite works out the way we have it planned. I’m now suffering from a pinched nerve in my arm. I can barely type with my right hand, and have even switched my mouse hand to my left.

*sigh*

I’m going to try and get a little writing done, just because I haven’t done any in a week. I’m not going to push it too hard though.

So this week, I’m going to try and get my novella done, plan out my paranormal, and maybe do a bit of writing on Taber’s story. I’m not going to go hard core writing on that one until after Christmas. Though Taber has been pounding at my head late at night recently. He wants me to get Fallon in his bed. Big time.

Happy Happy, Joy Joy

Anyone else a Renn and Stimpy fan?!?

I’m so happy it’s Friday and that it’s a long weekend here in Canada. Thanksgiving is one of my favourite long weekends. Turkey and stuffing and squash and pumpkin pie….

*drool*

I’ll be going away for Saturday and part  of Sunday, but I’m hoping to get a little bit of writing done. I might have to do it long hand, but that’s okay too. It might help me with my mini block with this novella. I really just need to be butt in chair and finish it up, so being someplace with no Internet may not be a bad thing.

So what are your plans for the weekend?

Thursday Thirteen #45

There has been a lot going on for me recently. With my job change, a major move, and a new book all happening this month, my head has been spinning. I thought I’d share a few things that I need to accomplish in the month of October.

1. Organize My Daughter’s Birthday. She’s turning eight the weekend we are moving halfway across the country. That means I need to plan a party for her the weekend before.

2. Girl Guide Cookie Day. The same weekend as her party we also have to go out selling Girl Guide cookies. I plan on buying a box or two for our drive.

3. Final RWAC Meeting. I’m going to try not to get all emotional. This will be my last face to face meeting for a long time with this wonderful group of men and women. While I’m still keeping my membership, I’m going to miss seeing them on a monthly basis.

4. Wrap-up Old Job. I need to tie up all the loose ends before I transition into my new position. Only three weeks to go *eek*.

5. Move. Going halfway across Canada in a two day drive. I’ve done this a few times now, and know exactly how painful it is. My poor cat is going to have a fit.

6. Temporary Accommodations. We’re going to be staying in either a condo or a hotel for six weeks while we wait for the close date for our new house. Thankfully, work is footing the bill.

7. Start New Job. I’m moving into a management position. I’m really excited about the job and the challenges it will bring. A bit scared too LOL!

8. Finish Novella. Come hell or high water, I’m finishing that novella this month!

9. Plot for NaNoWriMo. While I won’t have to do any crazy writing until November, I still need to plot some basic things out so I won’t get slowed down because of a block. Being a pantser, I probably won’t stick to it, but it helped me last year.

10. Halloween. Candy…enough said.

11. New School. We need to get the kids registered in their new school. Because we doubt the temporary accommodations will be near where our home will be, that will mean we’ll have to drive them until the end of November.

12. Buy Doctor Who. This may seem minor, but I need to buy series one and two of Doctor Who. It was going to be my present to myself after the sale of The Bond That Ties Us. The book came out in July and I have yet to buy it! This month for sure.

13. Sweet and Spicy Spells. I need to start doing some book promotions for Sweet and Spicy Spells! This is the very hot novel I co-wrote with Renee Field. I hope you all love it as much as I do. And here’s the cover again for good measure!!

Crawling out from under the rock

Well I’m up. I’m not feeling 100% better, but I’m at work. A trainer’s work is never done…

I didn’t even think about writing yesterday. Well, that’s not true. I thought about the story, but I didn’t get in front of my computer except to check a few emails. I’ve been plotting out what I want to see happen in my paranormal.

In fact, I can’t seem to get it out of my head. I’m going to have to try to get as much plotting done as possible and tackle this project soon. Especially with NaNoWriMo coming out. I know myself well enough to know when an idea is sticking like this one is, I need to work on it. And the faster I get the plot out of my head and onto the computer the better.

Last night I watched Heroes (I missed it Monday because I was sick) and House. I like where they are going with Heroes. The addition of the new characters will add a lot to the plot. And House rocked. I love the fact he now has an assistant and that Cameron and Chase are back in the hospital. I can’t wait to see where they end up going with the team make up.

Though the snarky girl has to go…there can be only one Foreman.

Blah

Sometime yesterday afternoon I got hit hard with the stomach flu. I was in bed asleep last night at 9:00. Missed Heroes and Journeyman. *sigh* Still feel like garbage and am home in bed. Just can’t sleep anymore.

Yesterday I did managed to get 2000 words done on my novella. Only a chapter and a half to go and I’m done. Last night I kept dreaming about my paranormal that I’m working on. I think that might be the book I work on for NaNoWriMo after all. I can’t get it out of my head!

I’m pretty woozy, so I’m going to lie down again. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Moving at the speed of ohmygod

What a crazy, insane weekend. First off, we bought a house. We saw fourteen houses on Friday and out of all of those there were only two we liked. By the time we got around to making an offer there was only one of those left. Thankfully it was the house we wanted. We are super thrilled. :D

On the plane I got to read most of Lover Unbound. I’m not quite done yet (I’m reading fast Amy!!) and should be finished either tonight or tomorrow at the latest. OMG what a fantastic book so far.

Last week I managed to write about twelve pages on my novella and fixed a major problem with it. I’m hoping to get it finished this week so I can do some poking around in my paranormal. I had a dream about the plot last night, and was still thinking about it in the shower this morning. I really need to get to it soon. The wheels are starting to turn over time.

So I want to set my goals for this week.

  • Finish the novella – approximately 10,000 words
  • Plot out paranormal

I think with everything else going on, that will keep me busy. :)

What is everyone else up to?
