Monday Message

Well we had a good/bad weekend. Good in that my daughter had a fantastic birthday party. She got to laugh and giggle with her friends, eat junk food (which I happily supplied :D ) and watched a movie. She got some very cool presents too. I think a good time was had by all. (And somehow I survived 7 screaming girls)

I also had my last RWAC meeting on Sunday. This was a fantastic presentation on Marketing for Writers by the very talented Cathryn Fox. As always, Cathy gave us tons of very practical information on how to get your name out there with readers. Thanks again to Cathy and her lovely assistant for pulling together such an enlightening session.

It also gave me a kick in the butt to run another contest! More on that tomorrow. :D

The bad part of my weekend came when my washing machine decided to stop working. Water flooded the laundry room and we spent forever getting it cleaned up. The kicker, the appliances are part of the sale of my house…and the new owners get it on Friday. *sigh* Couldn’t have lasted one more week…could it! Not sure what the new owners want us to do yet. We’ll have to see.

This week I’m going to take it easy on the writing. I might pick away at The Bond That Consumes Us (Taber’s story), but it won’t be anything hard core. With the big move happening this weekend, I want to keep the pressure off myself until things settle down. Plus I’m gearing up for NaNoWriMo in a few weeks. If you haven’t joined up yet, please consider it. There are a number of us who will be participating in the insanity this year, so join us for the fun!

Bloggers Unite - Blog Action Day

Finally, I found out that today is Blog Aaction Day. This is a day for us to post about our concerns regarding the environment. I saw this video this morning on climate change. Now, normally I keep all talk of political things off this blog. But this man’s argument is such that I think it’s really worth spreading. Please listen to this with an open mind.

  • Hey Christine, happy birthday to your daughter!

And blog action day…to think all I did was ramble today, eeeck!! *tsk, tsk, tsk Red* ;)

The big move this weekend sounds scary. LOL! You can do it, and you’ve got some very special people waiting for you. ;)

  • Sorry to hear about the washing machine.

  • ACK, coming in too late for Blog Action Day, but Happy Birthday to your daughter, and I look forward to NaNo-ing with you! :)

And best of luck with your move! I’ll be thinking of you and hoping things go smoothly and well.

  • Stupid washing machine! I’ve had those floods; they aren’t fun.

I, too, forgot (or didn’t know) about Blog Action Day. Bummer. I’m a tree-hugger. I’d have posted some of the cool pictures I took over the weekend.

Hope the washing machine doesn’t muck up the sale. Are you sure something didn’t just get temporarily clogged? I’ve had that happen.

  • No, Susan, we think there is something wrong with the timer. We are going to leave a $100 cheque for the new owners to get it fixed. There’s no way we will be able to get it repaired ourselves in time. So it will work out.

I just need to find a laundromat so I can get my wash done!

  • At least you can justify a new one, right?

  • Small Laundromat in Bedford down by the Sobey’s on the Bedford highway. You can even leave and pay for them to do it.

  • Glad fun was had by all the screaming girls, Christine. :-) Sounds like quite a party.

Sorry to hear about the washing machine. Doesn’t something like that always happen at the most inopportune time. Not that there is ever a good time. LOL But you know what I mean.

Hope the move goes nice and smooth and is as stress free as possible.

  • Happy birthday to your eldest. That sucks about the washing machine. Yikes, I hope you get it worked out.

I can’t believe you’re moving this weekend. I can’t believe it’s already middle of October and like soon you’ll be so close to the Wylster and Mois.

I sending all warm fuzzies and best wishes your way. You’re crazy for offering to read my crazy manuscript in the midst of chaos. This calls for drinks in November.

  • Washing machines suck. Moving sucks. Hope you survive both with a smile intact. Also, I have been seriously considering doing NaNoWrMo and got the email today to go sign up…..*thinking*thinking*thinking*

    Have a good week.

  • I’ve decided washing machines have warped senses of humor. They break down at the most inconvenient times. Mine was the day before Christmas and every service man I rang laughed at me.

I hope the move goes well. I’ll be thinking of you.
