I love the heat. I think I was a lizard in another life. Today in my neck of the woods, it will be 34 c and I can’t wait! Of course, I’m going to be stuck in an office building for most of it, but still, it’s nice out. After soccer tonight I plan on jumping into our pool and having a nice long soak. It’s been a long week so I deserve it.
My husband made it safe and sound to Comic Con yesterday. I don’t expect to hear from him again until Monday to be honest. His schedule is pretty busy. The girls really miss their dad. It’s the first time he’s been away from them. Heck, I really miss him! But it’s only for a few days.
And to make matters worse, Sven is mad at me. I’ve only managed to peck out one page yesterday, for a total of eight pages this week. With my parents up babysitting (oh my mom was able to come too!) I’ve been spending my evenings with them. So today, I really need to try and get something done.
So far The Bond That Heals Us is sitting at 33,000 words. Not bad when you consider I only started writing it three weeks ago. I’m planning on getting it to around 60,000 for the first draft and then add another 10,000 in the second draft. I find I tend to gloss over a lot of background description in the first draft. Looking at it like this, I’m over halfway done the first draft. We’ll see how much I manage this weekend.
What plans do you have?
I don’t love the heat but I’m trying not to complain after all our rain this summer. Enjoy your pool and your parent’s visit.
30,000+ in 3 weeks? I think Sven would be VERY impressed. I sure am!!
Have fun with your folks this weekend and enjoy the heat. I’m praying for rain… This has been one heck of a dry summer for us. Funny, because there’s LOTS of rain in Toronto, but a few miles north – nothing! My poor plants…
So envious you have a pool!!! I plan to relax at home work on writing … and I’ve picked a design from ML!!!! I love my new website!!!
So I guess I’ll be working on that. Squee!
hey whats 34 degrees C in fahrenheit terms??
It’s around 93 degrees F. Plus hot and humid.
Being a person who is always cold, I love it.
I’m completely impressed with 30,000 words in three weeks. If Sven’s giving you grief, that’s just his job. He’s not asking for love – he’s asking for words! I wonder if he ever sheds a tear in quiet moments…?
As for what I’m doing this weekend, besides watching “300″, admiring my new computer (translation, watching my husband play around with it till he can show me how it works), mowing the lawn, looking after Gram and planting two lilac bushes that have been waiting two months for me to get time enough to get them in the ground. Can you see any writing time in there?
Ooh, I have to plant my lilac bush this weekend too. The sad little thing is going to die soon if I don’t.
You are a major force to be reckoned with woman!!!
Guess what I landed up watching on tv yesterday afternoon? G4 channel featuring the Comic Con! I noticed it specifically because of your post yesterday and I got right into the nerd world. In fact…there was an upcoming gaynerd parade.
What am I doing the next few days…for the heat? Well, the beach, reading and some mail outs, out for drinks tomorrow night at a local place called The Bad Dog Tavern. They have the best pork roast and suace and I’m thinking about it even today while I work.
Comic con? Now I’m jealous.
And wow…33000 in 3 weeks. If Sven isn’t impressed, I know I am!! Also – I’m more of a winter person – not because I like the cold, but because I like wearing awesome coats and pretty scarves.
33,000 in 3 weeks! Way to go!!
Way to go on the word count, Christine! I’ve got to get my head back into writing forward – I’ve had a heckuva time this week. I spent the last week editing and sending off my partial, but now I’m finding myself buried in reading other people’s works. And discovered that my ‘original’ gargoyle idea has already been taken, dag nab it! So I have to rework that story idea
So I’m not a happy camper on that front.
And yes, it’s danged hot – thank heavens for Air Conditioning!
Somehow, I’ve got to cram several thousand words in over this weekend if I have any hope of finishing the short gothic by 7/31. Sigh. I’m not quite sure how yet, but I’m going to try! Have a great weekend!
Hi again.
Just tagged you for a meme. You’ll like this one, I promise!
I’m not a big fan of the heat either, but I could definitely do with some sunshine down here in NZ. 33,000 words isn’t to be sneezed at. In fact it sounds pretty good to me. I’m doing a lot of family stuff this weekend – parties and such plus completing my edits.
Happy writing!
