Hubby home!!

I’m doing the happy dance this morning because my husband made it home safe and sound last night…and he brought presents!! I’ll be taking pictures tonight of some of the cool things I have, but right now as we speak I have Doctor Who on my desk! He has a sonic screwdriver! I’m such a geek!

Yesterday, I managed to get 2000 words written on The Bond That Heals Us. I’m not sure, but the story just got really emotionally intense on me. I think I’m going to be good for another chapter, maybe two and then I’ll have to move into the last part of the story. I’m closing in of the 40k mark and hope I have enough story to get me through to 60k. Then I’ll go back and layer in some more emotion and clean up the plot. I really hope to be done this by the end of August and get it sent off to my editor.

Sven, the Brotherhood and some good news

Happy Monday Morning!! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I know mine was very good, even though I didn’t get done everything that I wanted to get done. My husband had a great time at Comic Con. He is flying home today with gifts and pictures. He’s tired, but happy and looking forward to coming home. I’ll have some pictures to share with you tomorrow.

I got a bit of good news this morning! The Bond That Ties Us won The Romance Studio’s Book of the Week!! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me. :D It’s given me a great boost and I can’t wait to get back into writing the follow-up book The Bond That Heals Us.

Speaking of Heals, Sven is annoyed with me again. I only wrote ten pages last week. I have a couple of great days, but then with hubby being away and my parents up, I didn’t get much done. And when I did have time, I was spending it with another man…well men actually.

I finished reading J.R. Ward’s Dark Lover on Friday night. I was so sucked in I picked up Lover Eternal Saturday and finished it. I’m now half way finished Lover Revealed and have book four sitting on my night stand. OMG THESE ROCK!!! She is an amazing author and I can’t believe I stumbled on to these as late as I did. Thanks to Wylie for pointing me in this direction. :D

So Sven and I are going to start again fresh this week. My goal is a lofty 35 pages. Let’s hope I can stay focused and get it done.

What are you up to this week?

Contests!

Only time for a quick post this morning. I wanted to let everyone know about a special contest we are running over on 6 Degrees of Sexy. A nice little treasure hunt that will give you the chance to win a copy of any one of the Sexy ladies backlist! Come check it out.

I also wanted to let you know that it’s still not too late to sign up for my newsletter contest! If you and a friend join your names will be entered into a draw. If either of your names is selected, you’ll both win a copy of The Bond That Ties Us!

Have a fun and safe Saturday!!

Summer is wonderful…and freaking hot!

I love the heat. I think I was a lizard in another life. Today in my neck of the woods, it will be 34 c  and I can’t wait! Of course, I’m going to be stuck in an office building for most of it, but still, it’s nice out. After soccer tonight I plan on jumping into our pool and having a nice long soak. It’s been a long week so I deserve it. :D

My husband made it safe and sound to Comic Con yesterday. I don’t expect to hear from him again until Monday to be honest. His schedule is pretty busy. The girls really miss their dad. It’s the first time he’s been away from them. Heck, I really miss him! But it’s only for a few days. :)

And to make matters worse, Sven is mad at me. I’ve only managed to peck out one page yesterday, for a total of eight pages this week. With my parents up babysitting (oh my mom was able to come too!) I’ve been spending my evenings with them. So today, I really need to try and get something done.

So far The Bond That Heals Us is sitting at 33,000 words. Not bad when you consider I only started writing it three weeks ago. I’m planning on getting it to around 60,000 for the first draft and then add another 10,000 in the second draft. I find I tend to gloss over a lot of background description in the first draft. Looking at it like this, I’m over halfway done the first draft. We’ll see how much I manage this weekend.

What plans do you have?

Thursday Thirteen #37

thursdaybanner2.gif

I just got back from driving my husband to the airport. He is on his way to Comic Con in San Diego, and I’m really excited for him. While he is going there for work (he’s a writer for a gaming site/magazine), there are a lot of things that he’s hoping to see as a fan. So my list this week is thirteen thing my husband might do while he’s at Comic Con.

1. Stargate. So not only are they going to be talking about the upcoming movie, but the cast of SG1 will be there. My husband is hoping to get a picture with Amanda Tapping. They will also have the cast of Atlantis as well. I’m so jealous!

2. Star Wars Day: I’m not sure how much of this he would get to see, but they will have author’s, comic writers and others there talking about Star Wars.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Apparently, they build a giant replica of The Black Pearl for a display. I can’t wait to see pictures of it.

4. Stan Lee: The creator of so many fun, cool characters I’ve lost count. It would be neat to meet him.

5. Sony: He might have a chance to go to the headquarters of Sony Entertainment to talk to some game developers. This is very cool for someone who plays a lot of online games.

6. Nicholas Cage: He will be there with his son to talk about a new comic they developed.

7. More comic book artists that you can shake a stick at: Way too many for me to list here, and a bunch I’m not familiar with. But it would be neat simply for the few names I recognize.

8. Ray Bradbury: Enough said.

9. Russel T. Davis: The man who brought Doctor Who back and the creator of Torchwood. Oh how I’d love to talk to him for a while.

10. Laurell K Hamilton: Admittedly, not someone my husband would go see, but I’d be there!

11. George A. Romero: Night of the Living Dead…enough said.

12. J. Michael Straczynski: Creator and writer of Babylon 5, and other comics. I loved B5 and think it would be cool to talk to him.

13. The Convention Itself: I’ve never been to a convention like this and think the whole experience/environment would be amazing. I can’t wait till he gets home so I can hear all about it.

Just a quick update on Sweat. Yesterday I was tempted to slack off, but I didn’t. I got my five pages written for the day. That means I’m only behind three for my goal this week. I’ll try and make that up today.

My husband is heading off to Comic Con in San Diego tomorrow morning. He deserves the vacation, though he’ll be working his butt off. My dad is coming up to watch the girls for me Thursday and Friday while I’m at work, and then he’s going to stay the weekend. We’ll have a blast. :D

I’ve also been tagged with two memes. Angela gave me the nod for this one: Blogging Tips Meme.

-Start Copy-

It’s very simple. When this is passed on to you, copy the whole thing, skim the list and put a * star beside those that you like. (Check out especially the * starred ones.)

Add the next number (1. 2. 3. 4. 5., etc.) and write your own blogging tip for other bloggers. Try to make your tip general.

After that, tag 10 other people. Link love some friends!

Just think- if 10 people start this, the 10 people pass it onto another 10 people, you have 100 links already!

Now I’m supposed to tag ten people…but I’ll let you tag your self. :)

Julia also tagged me with the Moaning Meme, where I get to air some gripes. *cracks her knuckles*

4 things that should go into Room 101 and be removed from the face of the earth:

  • Expensive (usually stinky) perfume – blah
  • Gum with Aspartame
  • Half the crap in my junk drawer – where did this stuff come from!
  • All the crap they use to fasten toys to boxes to make them look nice. Do you know how long it takes to get a Polly Pocket out of the wrapping!!!

3 things people do that make you want to shake them violently:

  • “I know you haven’t read this book/watched this movie, but here’s how it ends!”
  • Opening up a dead issue just after things seem to have settled down
  • Talk during a movie

2 things you find yourself moaning about:

  • How there’s never enough time to do everything
  • The weather

1 thing the above answers tell you about yourself:

  • I need to relax and enjoy myself more

RULES

Link to the original meme at freelancecynic.com so people know what it’s all about!
Be as honest as possible, This is about letting people get to know the real you!
Try not to insult anyone – unless they really deserve it or are very, very ugly!
Post these rules at the end of every meme!

Slacking…

Well…I only wrote two pages yesterday. In my own defense, I had to mow the lawn. I mean I really had to mow the lawn. We’ve had nothing but rain for the past week, and the weeds were getting out of control. It took me about two and a half hours to get everything done. My poor husband was doubled over pulling weeds from our pathway and driveway the whole time. I’d much rather mow.

Last night I also participated in the Ellora’s Cave Writer’s Space chat. It was a lot of fun, and I met some very cool new people. By the time it was done, it was after 10:00 pm and I was pretty tired. So we watched last week’s episode of Last Comic Standing and I went to bed.

Now that my excuses are done, I’m going to buckle down tonight and really try to get some writing done. I had a break through with the plot, which has me revved up. I love it when something just pops into my head as the characters are working through something. So my goal for today is to try and flush that out.

Today I’ll also be sharing excerpts from some of my stories on the Ellora’s Cave chat group. Please feel free to stop by to say hi and read some hot and steamy blubs.

I’ve also put up a super sexy post on 6 Degrees of Sexy about comma usage. That’s  right! Grammar time! I hope you can stop by and say hi!

Finally, I want to thank all the people who have voted for The Bond That Ties Us as The Romance Studio’s pick of the week! I love you all. :D

Sven Says…Day 16

I have to start by saying I had a bad writing week last week. I only managed about 10,000 words on The Bond That Heals Us, 3000 of which I had to get rid of. I did add about 4000 words to All Bottled Up, but that doesn’t help me with Heal.

However, I’m sittingn t 27,000 plus words for the whole novel, and I’m feeling pretty good about it. Now that Bonds is out and I have nothing to drive me insane, I’m going to recommit myself to my writing this week.

So my goal is to get five pages a day written on Heal. That’s it. A nice, simple goal. I don’t want to push myself too much because it’s supposed to be beautiful out this week. :)

What are your goals? (I hope someone is going to the beach!)

The Romance Studio Reader’s Pick

Guess what?? I’m in the running for The Romance Studio’s pick of the week! If you’ve read The Bond That Ties Us, please consider voting for me. :D Please, please, please…with sugar on top!

And Relax

Wow. Yesterday was just…wow. I was a bundle of nerves until the book actually came out, but last night I was finally able to relax. It’s done, gone and people (I hope) are reading it. It’s a strange feeling.

But now I need to get refocused on Sven. He gave me some slack room this week, but no more. Today I need to get going and do some major writing. I realized I had a problem with the chapter I’m currently working on, so I need to take the last half and push it forward. I’ll be adding in several new scenes that will make the build up a bit slower.

So today, I’ll be writing. I hope everyone has a great Saturday!
