Spinning

Every so often my brain seems to kick into overtime. I can’t seem to focus on any one thing and end up bouncing from project to project. This isn’t limited to just my writing. I’ll pick up books to read, start, put it down and get another. It’s no reflection on the writing but rather on my inability to settle down. Last night I literally worked on three different projects, one of which was brand new!

So I’m putting my virtual foot down here on my blog. I am stopping this hopping from project to project. Right now, I’m going to focus on writing the novella I’m going to enter into the Brava contest. I finally settled on a story idea yesterday (thanks Wylie and Amy!!) and am going to attack it head on. If I find I need a break, then I have my Duke’s story to work on. That’s it!! The two other projects that jumped my mental queue will have to wait. I’ve pushed them to the back of the line and will return to them in due couse.

So I’m revising my goals!! This week I plan on plotting out my Brava story (as much as I ever plot) and write the first chapter. I’m thinking I might push myself and make this a Book-in-a-month project so I don’t get dragged down by the weight of the other projects waiting…always waiting…

I also find myself missing TV these days. I don’t normally watch a lot of TV in the summer, but I’ve barely turned it on in two weeks. I thinkĀ I need to either start watching House or Dead Zone. I was going to buy season one of Dead Zone on pay day, but never made it near the store. I might have to zip over on my lunch break.

That sounds like a plan, sweetie!! Go Brava, go!

This week I need to FULLY concentrate on my SEVEN SINNERS and stop getting distracted with other WIP’s as well. I’ve tried not to watch TV, otherwise I procrastinate alot, but when I feel my brain is being overtaxed, I take a day or two as break. It’s good for you, recharges your batteries, too! =)

I do that sometimes, too. Tons of ideas and stories, all cooler and more appealing (or easier in some way, at least my brain is convinced so) than the one project I *must* work on. I have a Brava idea, but at this rate, I don’t know that I’ll get to it. Sigh. Too much to do, and too little time!!

Dead Zone and 4400! You wont be sorry!
    lol

Still plugging away at my paranormal (that I have NO idea how to do/create). It’s taking me longer than any project I’ve ever tackled… maybe that’s a sign? ;)

Good luck on the Brava story!

I find in the summer time I end up catching up on shows I don’t get by renting out the DVDs. Right now I’m watching the first season of HBO’s Carnivale and loving it!

Good luck with the new goals!

Goodluck on the Brava and you know I’m always here to bounce ideas off of, think of me as your squash court … ugh scratch that. ;)

Yes, I hate to stop hopping, I have so many ideas so I am just focusing on two, Journey and the Hunters for Hire right now. I think I’ll submit EE to Cerriwiden, Samhain and or TOR.

I understand that sensation - I’ve been there the last three days and am having real trouble settling down and finishing my erotica novella - I’ve got like two chapters to write, they’re storyboarded, I just can’t seem to move forward.

Add that to the two courses that I’m on (simultaneously) and the gardens that have been neglected and keep taunting me. So I find myself wandering about the house when it’s quiet and the best time to write. I’ve got to stop spinning myself.

I vote for House. It’s the only show I’ll actually turn the TV on for, and that takes some serious motivation.

I know that project hopping feeling. I’ve forced myself to focus on one at a time, though I allow an occasional thought to the others. It’s so easy to go from project to project and then not finish anything. Good for you on setting your priorities and I wish you luck on the Brava contest. Good stuff has happened to winners of that. Go for it!

House is one of those shows that when you start watching you can’t take your eyes off until the end. I think there are probably tips from the show that one could learn from and apply to writing a page turner.

I’ve been going through the project bunny hop myself lately and I’m finally settling down on a couple.

As for summer t.v., I watch “Hex” on BBCAmerica and “Hell’s Kitchen.” I love Gordon Ramsay. I mean I LOVE Gordon Ramsay, like restraining order like. He’s so cool.
