Thursday Thirteen #16

So I’ve received threee rejections from three agents over the past three days. Which sucks, but I’m okay with it. It did get me thinking about everything that has happened over the past two month. I thought I’d take a look at my annual goals that I’d laid out for myself in January.

Update on Thirteen 2007 Goals.

1. To get published. Funny, this is the one I didn’t think would happen and it was the first goal I accomplished!

2. To write consistently every day for one hour. This one hasn’t been happening quite as much as I’d like. I’ve been averaging around 5-6 hours of writing a week. Which isn’t bad considering everything that’s going on. 3. To read five writing craft books. I have two that I’ve started, but haven’t finished. I need to finish these up. :)

4. To read two new releases a month. I’ve been okay with this goal. I only need to read one more new release and I’m right on track. Thankfully, I have Jaci Burton’s Surviving Demon Island on my night stand and I’ll be starting it tonight. :)

5. To finish the second draft of All Bottled Up. Done!

6. To finish the second draft of Summer Theatre. Done, changed the name, and sent it off to my EC editor. We’ll see if she’s interested in it.

7. To plot and finish the follow up manuscript to All Bottled UpI have the plot worked out in my head, but I haven’t had a chance to start it yet. This will have to wait until closer to summer I think.

8. To finish the first draft of Perfect Match. I’m slowly getting through this. I need to take a day off and just work through the draft. Push through and finish it up no matter what I think of it. Maybe I need to do a mini NaNoWriMo for it.

9. If Ellora’s Cave doesn’t buy The Bond that Ties Us, to send out partials to at least three publishing houses. They bought it so this goal gets to go away!!

10. To query at least three agents this year. Well as my above statement said, I did this but got three rejections. I’m not going to let that slow me down though. I’m going to try and find some more agents who I think will match with me and query them.

11. To send All Bottled Up to at least three publishers. As I was getting ready to do this I realized in order to hit a lot of the houses I want I need to add about 5000 words to the story. So once I get Perfect Match first draft done, I’ll be going back and doing that so I can send this out.

12. To send Summer Theatre to at least one publisher. Done!!

13. To blog at least five times a week. Oh I’ve been so doing this. Too much time blogging! I’m an addict!

  • These are all great solid goals! And congrats on attaining them and continuing to kick ass forward. Heh.

  • Again, congrats on the EC sale, and hugs on the agents. I’m in the same boat. At least you have something very nice to put in your credits now!!! Happy last TT!

  • These are amazing goals. I’m worn out just reading them! How wonderful for you that you’ve acccomplished some of them already.

  • You’re doing really well on your goals!

  • wow you are doing amazing on your goals for being so early in the year. Happy TT I am certainly going to miss Thursday Thirteens.

  • It is good to see such ambition. It’s a good kick in my butt that I should keep working hard on my own goals. It’s good to see you are doing so well on your goals.

  • Great goals — and I’m jealous that you’ve gotten published already! (okay, and darn excited for you, too.)

I wish I could set goals like that, but I tend to forget about them, even when I do. So I guess my goal is to write more, be with the family more, and do more fun reading contests at the blog. I think I can accomplish that.

Happy writing! And … happy TT. I hope you’ll keep coming by West of Mars now that TT’s ending (if, indeed, it is); we can have writerly parties there.

  • Thursday Thirteen has come to an end.
I have enjoyed my visits here and consider us friends.
Thank you for sharing your thirteens with me.
The comments you left me filled me with glee.
It is hard to believe it is really true.
I am trying very hard to not be blue.
    Happy TT’ing!

  • Awesome list of goals! Wooo You’ve already tackled a few of them. Congratulations. I’ve been very bad with my writing time so far this year. I just keep letting myself get distracted! :)

Well, I hope you have a lovely Thursday and thank you for stopping by my blog!

  • Great list of goals- and so many already accomplished. Ditto on the blogging addiction.
Sorry to see TT end- I just started playing- waah!

  • Sounds like you want to uncork the bottle! And then celebrate getting published more!

I don’t know if I can go on with TT!

  • You know they say things come in 3s so maybe the next batch will be 3 agents with 3 offers over 3 days.

  • Congratulations on having goals and actually meeting them! You’re leagues ahead of me; miles, lightyears. *Sigh*

  • Isn’t it great to get rid of a goal. It feels awesome, and your #1 goal got taken care of right away. You lucky duck!

  • Congratulations on reaching so many of your goals — you must be very proud, and keep on keepin’ on! :)

    Happy TT!

    Happy TT!

  • Wow, you’ve accomplished quite a lot. Good for you!
Thanks for visiting my picture TT. I hope TT will continue in one way or another.

  • Your list made me want to pick up the novel I had taken a break from writing and start again. . . Good luck with the rest of your goals. . You have a a great list and have already completed so much of it.

  • Way to go Christine – you are doing really well!

Psst – start reading SDI! It’s good. Well, at least I thought so and I’m pretty hard on books. LOL

  • Congrats on getting published. Best of luck with the rest of your goals.

As for the last T13 I go out with a nice round number. My Thursday 13 #30 is up. It is ironically 13 Thursday Thirteen Logos I made and used during the last 30 weeks. Stop by if you get a chance.

  • Wow! And you haven’t even used up two whole months of the year, yet. I’m way impressed.

  • You’ll be at the next meeting – so does that mean 3 chocolates? I’m trying to think of the positive! ;)

You are kicking some serious butt on those goals! The first one you achieved right away! You’ve accomplished so much so far this year and it’s only the end of February. Congratulations on all your achievements!

  • Great list of goals and it sounds like you’re making serious headway on achieving them.

  • You go, girl. Great goals and great job accomplishing them.

  • Wow! Impressive list. Awesome that you met all your goals.

  • YEAH!! You go for your goals, girl.

Keep me informed of your sales:)

We should get a book group together to discuss Jaci’s Demon Island. Got my copy finally!!!!

Hmmm… got the brain working on what are my goals?

  • I’ve got several craft related books…i keep thinking it would be handy to read them, but I hate reading to learn.

  • Gabriella that would be cool. I was hoping to start reading Jaci’s book this week, but I think it’s going to have to wait until the weekend.

Shiloh, it takes me forever to read a craft book. But I know I still have lots to learn so I plug away. :)

Everyone else, thanks for stopping by. Make sure you come back to visit from time to time now that TT is done!

  • Wow. Am i impressed by your number of blog pals stopping by. Humbled by your greatness. Well, okay – by your ability to gather people in one spot. Blog tiara goes to you. Grin!

  • You are doing so great!! Wish I could say the same…

    Happy T13!

  • What a good idea. I really need to get back on track. Congratulations! It sounds like everything is going well for you!
