The Rest Falls Away
Somehow amid everything else I had to do this weekend, I managed to finish Colleen Gleason’s The Rest Falls Away. If you haven’t bought this book, you NEED to go out and get it. Loved it!!
The story centers around Victoria, a young woman in Regency England who has an unusual family legacy - she comes from a line of vampire slayers.
Colleen’s characters are wonderful and come to life on the pages. Victoria is a strong female figure who has the best intentions but still manages to find herself in trouble. She is surrounded by a strong cast including Max her fellow vampire hunter, and Sebastian a man whose loyalties are in question. The last part of the novel I couldn’t put down having to know what would happen. The action was intense and the relationships between the characters full of future promise.
I’d easily give this story a 5 out of 5 and I’ll be near the front of the line to buy the next book in the series, Rises The Night.

There seems to be a consistent interest in vampires here. Are we drawn to the curiosity of understanding these creatures of the night? Is it our interest in the “bad side” of these characters which draws us in? Does the facination of gore and blood keep our hearts pounding? Or perhaps it is the sleek, silent whispers in the night which sends those desired chills down our spines.
Okay, I’m hooked.

Christine! I’m so glad you enjoyed the read! Thanks for posting about it, and for your time on the phone last week. I really enjoyed talking to you and somehow, I missed that you’d sold to EC!!!! They are a tough nut to crack (goodness knows I tried)–so major kudos to you.
Will be looking forward to reading your stuff too!

Hi C! (hi-C, get it? ha ha. Oh, I’ve been gone WAAAYY too long!)
As soon as I saw your topic I turned my eyes away incase there were spoilers. And remember, to me, the back blurb is a spoiler! I like to be surprised as to who the main characters are — is that sick, or what?!
Anyway… as you know from last week’s blog, I picked up this book and read about 40 pages before the family arrived en masse, so haven’t finished it yet. I look forward to taking it to the tub tonight after Heroes.
Great interview with CG, btw. I just sent out romANTICS so if it’s not in your mailbox, its on the TRW site.
God it’s good to be back in the blogosphere!

Hi everyone! I can’t say enough about Colleen’s book.
Colleen, we were so chatty the other night it’s all good. I still don’t quite believe it myself.
And thanks Amy and Wylie!
